Sorry, but I tried to do a forum search for this topic, only the server appears terribly slow from where I sit and keeps timing out. So, pardon if these questions have been recently asked.
1) I know there is a Disney Chase Visa card one can apply for. Is that the only one they offer? In other words, I'm assuming there isn't a DVC version of said card, correct?
2) Am I not correct in assuming that you can still pay for your yearly DVC dues/fees with accrued reward points?
3) Is there a one-for-one ratio for dollars spent/points earned? Or is it more like $5 per point earned?
Thanks in advance for your responses. :)

1- There is only one Chase Disney Visa, no DVC version
2 - As far as I know you can pay your dues with your accrued reward dollars.
3- The ratio is 100 to 1. Meaning for every $100 you spend, you will receive 1 reward dollar. With a max of $750 reward dollars per year.

There is only one Disney Visa, but you can request DVC Member to be imprinted on the card (however, there are no additional rewards for DVC members).

Yes...Member Services can handle this transaction for you.

As stated above, 1 reward dollar for every $100 spent. From time to time they run promos where you can earn double or triple rewards...but it is very specific and usually doesn't pan out as anticipated.

As cobbler has posted, you need to charge $100 to earn one reward point. One reward point equals $1 of spending power.

Best wishes -

While the percentage earned is 1%, it isn't truly just that as it varies by what you charge. This is because they round up or down to get to a whole Disney dollar.

Examples:

Charge $51 for the month, and receive 1 disney dollar.
Charge $149 for the month, and receive 1 disney dollar.
Charge $151 for the month, and receive 2 disney dollars.
Charge $249 for the month, and receive 2 disney dollars.
Charge $251 for the month, and receive 3 disney dollars.

and so on. It probably averages out over time, but technically it is a subtle difference.

Thanks, Caskbill, for the tweek on their rate. It must help them out over the long run, otherwise, why use such cutoff rates? Just thought of one last question I should have asked originally: is the card worth it? I don't need the card, but am interested in its benefit to reducing costs for dues since I already will be spending the money on trips. paw:

The interest rates on this card tend to be uncompetitive, so you don't want to carry a balance. If you don't carry a balance, there is no down side. We use the card to buy gas, groceries, doctor/dentist payments, and accumulate over $300 of disney dollars over a year. We just purchased 2 AP's, and applied $265 of credit from the Disney Visa toward the AP's; it really cuts down on the cost. We're going back to WDW this summer, and I expect to have enough credit to cover the cost of a nice dinner for 4.

Just like any other rewards card, it is all in how you use the rewards. I use the rewards to pay for all of our food in the parks so it works out good on our trips. I charged my whole DVC purchase on it in January and earned quite a few reward dollars. I paid it off before the statement came and the rewards still posted. You get a few perks every now and then with Disney if you have it and since it costs nothing to have it is not a bad option. If you use it to book a Disney cruise you get a $50 onboard credit. The Magic Kindom has a special character greet if you have the card also. I know someone who actually reserved on the cruise on his wifes card and then paid off the cruise on his card( 2 different account numbers) and rec. two $50 onboard credits.

If you look around or call I am sure they will give you a competitive rate but as stated here you really never want to carry a large balance on any card. I think mine was 9.9% for two years when I initially started the account. You can go to Chase.com/Disney to check it out.

Yes it really is all on how you use it.

I took advantage of the double reward dollars on dining during a promo they had last year. In fact I was in Disney 2x during that promo and charged ALL my meals, it really added up.

I also make extra loan payments on my DVC using the card and that racks up points. I have had it less than a year and have accumulated 221 as of my March statement. I am saving them for my 10 year anniversary celebration in Disney as we want to go all out.

If you can charge everything and pay it off every month than it is worth it if you love Disney and think of it as free Disney spending $$.
