Paying dues monthly question

Hi,

I live in the UK, so only have the option of paying my dues in a lump sum in January.
However, on our December trip I am planning to open a US bank account with Suntrust, at the branch near DTD.

I believe that I can then set up monthly payments by taking a cheque to the sales centre at SSR. Is this correct?

As I paid my dues in January, do I then start paying monthly from January 2012? Do I pay in arrears or advance?

Thank you for any help in this matter, I am a little confused as to how monthly payment works.

This might be a great question for the UK DVC board.

It is my understanding that you can open a sun trust account and have your dues taken monthly from that. Once the account is open, you'll need to set it up with member accounting. then starting in Jan of '12 and each month thereafter, they will deduct your monthly payment.

If you do get setup for monthly payments the January payment should be drafted on the 15th and all other monthly payments would be on the 1st. I know they will let you choose between the 1st and 15th on the loan payments, but I'm not sure if they will let you reschedule the remaining dues payments for the 15th or if the 1st is the only option.

Dues can be set up for either the 1st or 15th of the month. The January payment will always be on the 15th.

You need to contact member accounting and ask them. I don't know if the sales center at SSR would be involved.

I just sent them a voided check by mail.

I didn't specify if they should charge the dues on the 1. or the 15. They now charge all at the 15.

You pay in arrears, I suppose. It's certainly not in advance!

If I paid up front, all of this year's dues would be paid and done with right now. I pay monthly, so this year's dues are slowly being taken from my account. I'm not paying NEXT year's dues right now.

I think of it as "pay as you go". Disney incurs the expenses of running the resorts over the course of the year and those of us who pay monthly are covering those expenses over the course of the year as well. Those who pay in full in January are paying in advance.
