Paying cruise partially with gift cards?

If I book a DCL cruise through a travel agent, can I still pay partially with gift cards? Specifically Dreams Unlimited or Costco.

Yes. Both Dreams and Costco allow you to pay with gift cards. Most travel agents do, but I have heard of some agencies that have you make the payment to them and then they pay DCL, but those are usually smaller, local type travel agencies.

You can also set up a Disney Vacation Account and load your gift cards into that and then pay with the savings account. You get a $20 bonus gift card for each $1,000 paid out of the account as long as your account is open at least 120 days.

It is easier for them if you combine your gift cards into 1 large one instead of paying with many smaller cards. You can do this by "managing your cards" here.

Do you mean because of multiple cards? I will have them combined as $1000 gc.

I have them combined already. Is the issue when there are small denomination gcs or is it difficult either way?

If they are combined it will be much easier. The issue comes in when there are multiple cards. For example, 20 $50.00 cards would require making 20 separate payments. Having them all on 1, $1000.00 card would only require making 1 payment.

I just got done combining 15, $50 Disney gift cards into one and finished paying off my September cruise on Dreams Unlimited. Do it all the time with no problems. Like @CamColt said, just combine first on the Disney Gift Card website.

I just did this exact thing through Costco. Combined the gift cards first, then called Costco with the information. They called DCL while I was on hold and had the gift cards applied to my reservation. Very quick and painless!

Check out the Budget board for tips on saving on gift cards. And yes, gift cards can be applied to your onboard account. Just go to guest services to have them applied, and I'd recommend you do that before the last night of the cruise. The lines can get long on that last night.

Yes. I used like $2500 last cruise, pain to give codes over the phone, but worth it

Absolutely! We paid the deposit by cc for our cruise but then I did the gift card churn for the balance of approximately $24,0000 (12 of us cruising!) And I saved us over $3,000 which is our spending fund on board :-D
