Paying cash for part of a nights stay?

In the past I have rent enough points to use with what I had available to give me another nights stay. If we can no longer do that, what would be the draw back if DVC would allow us to pay cash for that portion of a night when we are using points which would otherwise be “lost”? Nothing seems to come out even from year to year and “renting” a few points from time to time seemed to even things out. I could “rent” out those few points I had not used if I could, but why should I have too if I would like to use them myself.

If you rent the points, they are still your points. They don't become the other member's points to add to their point total to make the reservation. Just bank them. Or borrow a few to make that complete day.

We bought a resale once that we found out had 7 banked points that were going to expire. So we borrowed a few points from the next year and added a night to our reservation.

You can either pay for the night or use points, not a combination.

What I was trying to say is that I have “rented” points when I had used every current UY point and had barrowed everything but a few points which did not leave enough for an additional night. I did then barrow 13 points in ’03, 1 point in ’04, and then 6 points and 24 points in ’05. I know you can not combine cash and points but my question is if I can not find someone who will “rent” in such small quintiles, now that they can only do it once in a UY, why doesn’t DVC let us combine points and cash to use up those points? It doesn’t seem to me that it would be hard for DVC to assign a value to a point and allow cash and points for a given night when every point available has been used.
