Hi All,
I want to stay slightly longer than my points will allow so am wondering how it works if I pay the difference?
I have heard you can pay cash for nights that the points wont cover.

Can anyone advise on the cost for SSR in September?

Many thanks.
Russ

We thought we would pay cash for a few extra nights. We looked at the numbers and realized it was better to do a 25 point add-on and with banking and borrowing we had enough points for our reservation.

This way the points were there for the life of our contract.

Never did pay cash to rent a room and have done several small add-ons when we were short points.

The pixie dust is strong!

It is usually best to pay cash on weekend nights and use points Sunday- Thursday. Call member service for rates sometimes they have 25% discount on dvc stay

We are sucking it up and paying cash for one night in June. We did get the 25% discount. If you go to WDW.com and book your room for a night in Sept and take off 25% of that total, you will come close to what the discount price is.

We stayed on a DVC cash ressie for 4 n in Jan. at VWL and are staying again in July for 3 n at AKV. We were able to get 25% off of the rack rate for both. While I would LOVE to do an add-on, right now it's easier financially to spread out a few hundred dollars here and there than to go thru with the purchase of more points.

Yes, agree with you here. I would love to add on more VB pts., but I can get a 2 bdrm. Fri nite cash ressie in Aug. for pretty cheap...:goodvibes Not knowing how many will always travel, I think it is cheaper in the long run to pay the cash right now.

I don't see it mentioned here yet, so I'll point out...

You can have a mixture of points and cash for a stay, but each individual night of the stay must be either points or cash. You can't mix points and cash for the same night. (In other words, if the room is 24 points for the night and you only have 12 points left, you can't say use these 12 points on this night, and I'll give you cash for the other half.) This means you may wind up with a small number of points left over.

They can link your cash and point nights so you won't have to move.

I am just terrorizing MS this week, and we just bought in on Monday.
I have changed my ressie every day so far.

Right now we have 5 nights at SSR on points, and the last night with cash. But the DVC site only shows the nights with points. Is that right? Does the cash night show somewhere else? She gave me a separate confirmation number so I am guessing it is somewhere else since it wasn't a "points" transaction.

This is how we go to HHI every summer without the 11 month window, cash and points.

For jackskellingtonsgirl: the cash ressie doesn't show up on the DVC website. I have two confirmation letters for our July VWL stay. One is the Saturday night cash with 25% discount (quite a deal: Value season for deluxe, but Magic on points) and the other our points reservation. It seems to take at least a week to get our snail mail confirmations

Great! Thank you for the info! :)

We are doing this in April. Since it's high season, I could have gotten a full week in a 1BR, or 6 nights in a 2BR and pay cash for the 7th night. Since the kids will be 17,turning 14 and 10, I thought it best to go for the 2BR.
I haven't booked the cash night yet, but I asked when I booked the points and MS told me I would not have to pay for the cash night until check-in.
