Paying after due date

Has anyone ever had to pay the rest of their trip after the due date? I called wdw today to see if my payment deadline of Dec. 8th could be pushed back a little. We have had some unexpected expenses come up. They told me that wasn't possible. I'm not feeling the magic right now and can't cancel because my daughter is going for dance. I was hoping that Disney would be more understanding.

I'm surprised they told you no. You should call back and talk to someone else. Normally the "drop dead" date is 30 days out from your trip. Typically when someone needs an extension beyond the 45 days, they will give them until 30 days but no longer than that. You do need to have this worked out and noted with Disney though, I wouldn't trust them not to cancel your reservation if they didn't give you permission.

I think so as well so I just shot an email to Guest Relations to see what they might be able to do to assist me. We have been long time customers and I have never paid late in all of the years we have gone. Not for the cruise line or WDW. I'm hoping they can work with me.

I hope they do work with you, and from what I have read on the Dis, they will! But please keep in mind they don't have to be more understanding, they are a business. If things have changed and they can't push it back, it doesn't make them bad or evil.

I completely understand that it is a business. I simply asked in the email if they would please not cancel my reservation because I am going to pay it. I just don't know if I can pay the entire amount I owe on Dec. 8th. That's it, the CM on the phone was very polite and nice. I certainly do not mean to insinuate anything different. It is just very disheartening when trying your absolute best to make it work out and unexpected things happen. That's all just hoping for a smidge of pixie dust.

I believe they give you two weeks grace period. My due date was 11/1 and I didn't pay until 11/7. After my due date I got am email stating that it would be cancelled at 30 day mark.

Can you borrow from friends or family? Disney doesn't really have any obligation to hold reservations for guests that can't pay. Travel insurance would have been a good idea..

I realize they do not have an obligation. I am going to pay but part of it would be the difference of a week. Any way, I will see what they say but thank you for your response.

You said your dd is going for dance. Is it a regular reservation or made through a group? If its made through a group I wonder if that may be the issue.

You need to call back and ask for someone specifically in Guest Services. We have been going to Disney every year for the past four years. Two out of those four years, we have had some unexpected issues that have come up in which we needed to extend our payment due date. Both times it was no problem. In fact, my last trip, I think I payed it in full only 12 or 13 days prior. They were very understanding and cool about it. They had told me, that it is not their policy to extend the payment date, however if a family has already put down a decent deposit, they are not going to go in and cancel your trip. It's not an automatic or electronic cancellation. Someone in the Accounting Dept needs to manually go in and cancel you out. They told me that they just made a note in my account of when I'd be able to make my final payment and to ignore any further cancellation notices that I'm sent via email. You will be fine and have a great trip!

I would definitely call, telling somebody no and going by the book is a lot easier through email. A phone call is a much more personal form of communication and the CM will probably be much more likely to use the wiggle room they have if you just explain your situation.

Good luck!

This is why I always just make Room Only ressies. I pay the deposit and then the rest is due when I take my trip. Because we travel at off times, the room only discount usually works out better than any package anyway.

You should have time to apply for and use the Disney Visa before your due date, then use that to pay. If you've booked a package then you'll also get 6 months no interest.

I was late in Sep and my past due invoice stated this -

Your Walt Disney World® Resort reservation is past due for final payment. This is the last notice that will be provided. If full payment is not received at least 14 days prior to arrival, this reservation will be cancelled and any amounts paid, minus cancellation fees, vacation insurance premium, airline fees and other amounts owed, will be refunded.

I booked just my daughter through the studio. Siblings and I booked separately because I could do that much cheaper.

I originally called first but was told that it is not possible to pay late. That is when I emailed guest services. Hopefully, it will all work out fine:thumbsup2

Depending on how much you owe, you could cut back your tickets on your package to the minimum required, eliminate the park-hopper, etc. You can always add these back on at a letter date, or wait until you check in. Sometimes this provides enough of a difference for you to make your final payment on time.

You can pay late, but you can't do it online. They will send you and invoice by email and remind you that payment is due. Then they tell you that they will cancel at 14 days out. We have a December 21st ressie and our due date was the 6th. I got a quarterly bonus on the 8th and we called and paid with gift cards we bought (to maximize fuel points).

I echo others that Disney is a business and personally I wouldn't expect them to change a due date for me (nice if they did, but it is a pretty common policy and they tell you the due date when you book so you can plan for it). That being said, I think you have a couple of options:
You could keep everything as is and call back to see if you get a different answer.
You could switch to room only and then add tickets when you get there. You might lose your Fastpass+, but that way you wouldn't have to pay the balance until you get there.
You could cancel and rebook once you can pay in full if you didn't have a discount (it wouldn't change the price).

:confused3. I made a room only Ressie and had to pay 45 days out
