We have always paid off our resort balance in full prior to our arrival. I just called to put the balance on our credit card and was told that this cannot be done if you booked with an AP rate. (this is our first time booking with this particular discount) The CM explained that the AP must be shown at the time of pay off. Is this correct or should I call back and talk to someone else? Also this CM wasn't sure if Disney takes American Express anymore. Can someone let me know if they do or not? Thanks. :confused3

not take American Express anymore:eek: I would call back and talk to another CM. I booked a room only through Dreams Unlimited with a AAA rate. I want to have my room paid in full prior to going next month. I paid my deposit with a AE and she said I can pay the discounted balance through them (cause I used them it has to be paid in full through them) and show my AAA card at checkin. If I didn't have a valid AAA at checkin they would charge me the difference (no discount) at time of checkin. I would assume you can do the same. Call and get another CM...seems like some of them aren't as well educated with the system as others. Please post your update and let me know what they say...curious.:surfweb:

Thanks Kim. Called back and the next CM I spoke with took our Am/Ex card and charged the balance with no problems at all. She just reminded me that we do have to show our AP's and our AAA card for our third room at check-in. I wish CRO would do a better job of training these people before someone (like me) suffers a complete meltdown. LoL :rolleyes1

They don't let you pay the balance on a room if it's booked online regardless of the rate. I tried to pay off a room earlier this year and was told you can pay off any room as long as it wasn't booked online through their site.

I've always booked a package online and have paid it off well before the 45 day mark.

I just recently returned from Pop Century:
Both me room ONLY ressies were paid in full before I arrived.
My AAA rate I had to show card at Checkin but i also had new CM so maybe why she asked to see card.
MY AP rate room I checked in and never was asked to show AP but I was fully prepared to.
Both my rssies were made on phone thru CRO.
I had experienced/heard that if room was booked online thru WDW site that you couldn't make any payments other than deposit until you checked in.

Maybe the first CM I spoke with was confused and thought I had booked online or something. I booked on the phone using the AP rate code. I'm glad the second guy seemed to know a little more. I do have another question though. What proof do I have that I paid it off? He didn't give me any receipt numbers or send an email stating a zero balance. Could this be a problem at check-in? I have always received an email before.

You can always call and request an updated reservation summary via email.

Be forewarned: it depends on your CM. Took 3 tries before I received mine! Each CM said she/he sent it; the last one verified nothing had been emailed! Just be patient and it will arrive--eventually! :)

What I did is went on WDW site and under my vaction section there is area to put in ressie # I pulled up ressie this way and I could see all my payments.

Yep, I have tried to do this for half of the afternoon but I keep being told that the server is too busy and to try later. Just my luck.

Taja, I'm still waiting for my email. Guess I'll have to recall again tomorrow if it still hasn't shown up.

Thanks everyone! :grouphug:

Glad to hear it worked out for you. I plan on bringing my American Express bill with me also where the charge is on my bill as backup just in case. I'm sure it's rare...but things tend to happen to me so just being cautious.
