Remember that movie?
The book is MUCH better than the movie, isn't that usually the case?

I felt inspired by the book and got a chance to put my feelings into action last week!
It's a long story but we had an extra car to get rid of. It's a Taurus, 6 years old, it's really squeaky, the AC doesn't work, and the radio doesn't work either.
It doesn't have a lot of miles on it though and it's got a nice new paint job.
I don't know what we could have sold the car for. We are having financial difficulties and every little bit helps.
But we know a woman who desperately needed a car to get to and from work.
We gave her the car.
I told her about the book and movie (she hasn't seen it) and asked her to keep her eyes open for a chance to " Pay it Forward".
When I tell people about this, their first reaction is always something like, "It'll come back to you. You do something good and something good will happen to you."
That's not the point of "PAY IT FORWARD".
It's about making the world a better place!
Imagine a world where everyone was doing good things for other people!
It's hard to imagine, I know.
If you haven't read this book, I recommend it. It's not Pulitzer Prize material, but it makes you think.

Hurrah for you for acting on the need. I hope you ARE rewarded... by your act blossoming into good things for MANY people. :D

I totally agree! I saw the movie and read the book too. What a nice world it would be if everyone did this! :D

I saw the movie and love it too. I try to do "random acts of kindness" when ever I get the opportunity. The good feelings I get are worth every one of them.

That is great, montessori!!! Always like RAOK's. Lady M has a great quote in my signature. Very nice, montessori.

What a great thing for you to do! I love the pay it forward idea...super thing to teach our children!

That was very nice of you to do that! I do believe in paying it forward... it makes life feel better for everyone :)

that was nice thing to do :D
I saw the movie, loved it so much i couldn't stop talking about it. I taped it for my sister cuz I wanted her to see it too. I haven't read the book yet but I will now!

Thats great! :) I have seen most of the movie - missed the beginning. I will have to go rent it sometime.

I really liked the movie. And I've tried to live my life in that way. On our most recent trip to WDW, our plane was diverted from Akron/Canton airport to Pittsburgh due to weather. The airline graciously put us up in the La Quinta Inn near the airport. As we finished up checking in, an older lady who was travelling by herself came out to the lobby to ask someone in the lobby or at the front desk how to use the room phone so she could call her son and let him know that she was safe. Before she had the chance to ask the people at the desk, I offered her my cell phone. She told me the number and I dialed it for her. She got through to her son and talked for a couple of minutes. The next morning, she came up to me in the lobby again, this time to thank me. And to tell me that she had left a generous tip for the housecleaning staff at the motel due to my generousity to her.

I disagree with the statement that you don't get something in return when you "Pay It Forward". At that moment in the lobby of the La Quinta Inn, I got the warmest, fuzziest feeling deep down inside.

Random acts of kindness are a wonderful way to make this world a better place for all of us. I've been on both the giving and receiving end of this type of humanity, and let me say that it is one of those rare occasions in life where everyone comes out a winner.

God Bless you and your family montessori.
