Pay for parking at hotel with AP

Do you have to pay for parking at the hotel if you have an AP?

yes.
there is a nightly charge for hotel guests with cars in their lots.

for day park visitors, if you have the AP, you can receive free parking at the garage by city walk.

As Macraven indicated, you still have to pay for parking even with an AP. The hotels are not owned by Universal so the AP discounts don't apply to parking.

The hotels may not be owned by Universal but they offer APH discounts on the rooms. I believe they offer discounts on spa services to APH. There is no reason why they couldn't offer free (or discounted) parking to APH. They don't.

I think parking is contracted out. The hotels might have to pay that company real money for any parking which is comped.

I'm not sure who owns the hotels. I know Lowes manages PBH and RPH but I don't know if Lowest actually owns the hotels.

Their names are Loews Portofino and Loews Royal Pacific. I do believe that Loews owns them. The Hard Rock is not Loews Hard Rock like it used to be.

If you check here, http://www.loewshotels.com , and go to the drop down menu on the destinations, the Hard Rock is the only one not listed as Loews. Universal Orlando may give some sort of kick back to the hotels for any APH rate rooms, spas and restaurant deals. I would imagine that they would have to be involved in the parking part as well but have chosen only to offer the deal on park parking.

AFAIK hotels aren't paid by AAA, AARP, COSTCO etc in exchange for offering discounted rates. Anything is possible but I have no reason to think Universal is directly paying for APH rates. Maybe some promotional consideration.

You could very well be correct...I have no concrete evidence of anything, lol. Just guessing. The only info I could find was this...

A Loews Hotels subsidiary is a 50% owner of these hotels located at the Universal Orlando theme park, through a joint
venture with Universal Studios and the Rank Group. The hotels are on land leased by the joint venture and are operated by
Loews Hotels pursuant to a management contract.


Since the land is leased, the parking could be managed by a completely different company as well.

Nothing to do with the parking price. But was talking to the manager inside at the baggage area at RPR, as was concerned about the gratuity and who should i pay, or did it all go in 1 pot and get shared. he told me that the guys unloading and parking the cars at the front of RPR are a separate company and not employed by RPR,and did not know what way they operated, this was similar info i got a few years back when i got discounted parking after talking to the parking manager.

While we're on the subject, what do you tip the valet guys? I had asked them to keep the rented minivan handy as I wasn't sure if the kids were going to make it through the whole show. I was only at RPH for the Luau and tipped the guy $5, pretty much what I tip the valets here downtown if the right car shows up in one piece in a timely fashion.

How about when you're staying at the property and have to get the car out 2-3 times or so in one day? At that point I suppose it would be better to self-park?

I self park, it's a lot easier.

Self Park! You will be happier.

It is a zoo for Valet at check out.
Walk from Self-park to door is about same as door to front desk.

Left girls with bag, went to car, had them in car while people we had seen heading to door as we were heading to desk still waiting.

If it is a peak time, self park.
