I know the names are Loews Portofino and Loews Royal Pacific. I know Loews operates (manages) those properties. I said as much in my previous post. I recall reading Universal owns the hotels and contracted with Loews to mange them.
Makes sense. Hard Rock Hotel is now a joint venture between Loews and the Seminole Indians. I don't think Loews would have shared operations with the Seminole Indians if they owned the hotel outright. More likely they would have changed the themeing or negotiated a licensing fee.
AFAIK hotels aren't paid by
AAA, AARP, COSTCO etc in exchange for offering discounted rates. Anything is possible but I have no reason to think Universal is directly paying for APH rates. Maybe some promotional consideration.
