This is a great board, thanks for all the info. Here's my question.

My wife and I are in our 30's and traveling this August to Disney World for the first time. We have no kids. We are looking favorably toward the Coronado Springs Resort, but our travel agent is trying to steer us toward Polynesian.

Our first thought is that we won't be spending that much time in our room, yet we still want a nice hotel. Staying at the Poly will cost us about $800.00 more than if we stayed at Coronado.

I guess what I'm asking is, will we be happy at CS? Should we pay the extra for Poly? I don't want to be disappointed.

Thanks for your help and any information you can provide about these hotels

I can't speak to your question regarding the Poly but you can't compare any of the deluxes to a moderate, especially one on the monorail route. If money is no object, Poly is the way to go. Check out Tikiman's Site for more info.

But as far as CSR goes, it the closest you'll get to a deluxe at moderate prices. Since it is a convention resort like the Grand Floridian, it has more amenities than a regular moderate.

Check out my CSR page below for greater detail.

Good luck with your decision and have a great trip!!

Dinseyworld w/o kids is probably convienent no matter where you stay, so i wouldnt put much stock into the monorail. for me its a question of theme. are you partial to the southwest? then stay there.

I wouldnt stay anywhere that you have to be steered to. if it were me, id be looking around the poly counting what i spent. Plus another consideration is this, stay where you wont when you come back with kids. for me we wouldnt stay in a moderate because its smaller and by then you will appreciate the monorail's easy access. so take into planning what youd want with kids and do something different.

Welcome to the boards! I think you would be happy at any Disney hotel. They are lots of fun for different reasons. Here's why we like the Poly:

larger rooms
queen sized beds vs doubles
interior hallways
room service
several nice sit down restaurants on site
monorail access

I've stayed at both and also have no kids (usually, occasional god-children), and that in mind, I don't think you will mind either resort. First time to disney, I started in moderates and moved in later trips to the deluxes, but if I had not done the moderates I probably would be less anxious to go to them, but knowing they are just as great, with just a few less perks, I think you could have just as great a trip staying there. Now for us seasoned wdw nuts, I probably spend more time at the resorts, then we did in our earlier trips, so now I prefer the extra's that I didn't, but would still welcome any trip to the PO-RS, or CBR! (haven't stayed overnite at CS, but did walk through several times. MKY;)

Guys if i were you id stay at the poly .

The Polly is very romantic at night after they light the Tiki torches

and the soft Island music starts playing .

south pacific Im there !!!!!

Being on the monorail is great , largest rooms in disney are at the polly.

Close to ttc
You can wath the fire works over cindys castle from the beach

or your room if you get a lagoon view.

2 great places to eat and a snack bar .

And i love the bar at the Polly, Great Island Drinks.

While I love the Polynesian I think you should start out at the CSR. It is a great moderate resort. The rooms are a bit smaller but I assume that on your first trip you will not be in it as much as you would on subsiquent trips. If you are excited about Coronado Springs than you should stick with it. $800 is alot of money and you could put that toward your next trip!!! ;)
