Did anyone else see the frosted glass Disney figurine colleciton on Pawn Stars last night? Is there any truth to the rumor they discussed that 20+ years ago, a Disney park in Italy was under consideration?

(I also laughed when the Old Man called the Blue Fairy "Tinkerbell")

Great TV show...wish I had some of that stuff laying around!

I saw the show (and also chuckled over "Tinkerbell".) The little they showed, the boxes looked to have Italian writing on them. I told DH they probably came from EPCOT. :thumbsup2

There seemed to be quite a few from Pinocchio and I had always assumed that took place in Italy.

DH and I saw that last night too. I was curious as to how much they were actually worth!

I know Paris was not, at least in hindsight, the best location and Spain was considered by some, including Roy Disney, to be better. It's quite possible Italy was also under consideration.

I would agree that these might have been offered at the Italy pavilion in Epcot, but that would be much later than suggested (I believe they said 1960s). In any case, it's a nice set.

Ya and when Chumly asked where "Bugs Bunny" was ... :headache:

She only got $25.00 right, for the lot. I would have thought she would have gotten at least $100.00 for all of them. They looked in great condition and she even had all the original boxes.

She wanted $300 and got $250.00 for them.

Oh, ok, I guess I was not paying that close attention to it ...

Well, $250.00 is much better than the $25.00, I thought and I think that was a fair price to pay.

I have 3 of those - they did not come from a theme park that never was built. They were mass produced years ago. My grandmother gave us ours and she never went to WDW (or any Disney park for that matter) so we assume she purchased them in a gift shop somewhere.

From what I could find in a little bit of research was that the figurines were made in Italy in the '60's but where they were sold, not sure. The going price seems to be between $22-$30 each. So sounds like the woman got a good deal.

I TOLD DH that was not Tinkerbell! I love it when I am right!

Figurines were actually made in Italy under license by Disney. However, the story about being made for an Italian Disney Park is fiction. These figures show up on eBay frequently although I have never seen them offered as a set. Usual selling price is between $10 and $20 depending on which character is being offered. These were originally made available through gift type stores in the mid to late 1960's and I have seen at least one with an original price stick of $4.95.

I knew this topic seemed a bit old... at least it's not a double rehashing of a 5 year old topic.

Alright, so where's out the picture of a topic coming out of the grave?

 I think that's a new show. New thread.

The figures were actually made in the 1960's in[/U] Italy. She had her information crossed, but Italy was part of the way these figrues should be described. Pawn stars got a very good price for the set as the unpainted figures (some had hand-painted accents), because they can easily sell for $35.00 each without the box. She had the entire set, in great condition, and the boxes were in excellent shape.

But no Euro-Disney in Italy.:upsidedow
