Paul Wellstone

I've read a lot about him and thought he seemed like a wonderful man. Between that and the news about Richard Harris(who *is* Dumbledore to me), I am feeling mopey.:(

Yes, it's very sad.

Even if I didn't agree with him, I still respected his passion in which he approached his work and beliefs.

He leaves behind two sons.

I doubt that any decent person, regardless of their party affiliation, would be relieved by a tragedy like this!

Oh really?

Yeah, really Golden Gate! I can tell you this, because not only can I say that I wasn't going to vote for him, but I'm a die-hard, republican from head to toe who has spent the last two months working hard to campaign against Wellstone.
And I will tell you that this is a terrible tragedy that no one feels victory over or rejoices in. I am terribly saddened by what has happened to a fellow human being and his family, who may not be of the same opinion as I, but believed strongly in what he stood for, worked tirelessly for those who did vote for him (which was apparently the majority), and deserves respect for who he was. I can't believe you thought otherwise.

Very sad. He seemed like a good and decent man.

How sad. I wasn't familiar with his politics, but I'm sorry to hear that he and his wife and child have died.

His colleagues in the Senate (from both parties) have all said wonderful things about him.... how he could disagree with them vehemently on issues but he would seek them out personally either before or after and speak with them. Many considered him their friend. That he ALWAYS voted his conscience and his heart.... he was just a good person. Whether I agreed with his political policies or not- this was a tragedy.

While I, too, did not agree with his politics, he was a warm and genuine person. It was horrible, horrible way to die. What hasn't been said much, though, is that the daughter who also died in the crash was the mother of 4 of his 6 grandkids.

My prayers go out for all who died on that plane and their families.

Another republican here who was shocked to hear the news. Whether you agreed with his politics or not he was a good man who was passionate about his commitment to Minnesota and the USA. Everyone in MN will miss him.

This is very sad. His daughter that had died in the plane crash taught spanish at the school in my town. I switched schools last year, but if i would have stayed with the same school district she would have been my spanish teacher. My prayers goes out to his family and the other people on the plane families.

Well...I've been fuming all day over comments made
in my living room this morning by my FIL.
Somehow he
rolled Wellstone's death into a ploy by democrats to
win the election in Minnesota. My FIL is a Bill O'Reilley
fan and it seems he's picked up the technique of
drawing wide paths to what he considers the truth.
I went into the kitchen and turned up the stereo to
drown him out. I'm so sad about Paul Wellstone-he
was an honorable and good man.
No reflection on
you, Fishbone, just a clearer picture of how quickly
folks can get ugly in a situation like this. Thankfully,
my in-laws left a few hours later and I could rant with
my DH over FIL's paranoid and strange mind!!!
