We are new members to OKW. While there last week, a CM told us there was a path which ran from OKW to SSR. Another CM said she thought that wasn't open to resort guests, only golfers. Does anyone know about this? Walked it? Liked it? We enjoy just stroilling around Disney. We walked between Poly and GF for the first time this trip. Always on the lookout for fun (and quiet) places to explore at Disney.

The path is open to walkers, the access to the path is in the cul-de-sac near bldg 55 at OKW.

However, the cart paths are not open to walkers, only golfers.

There is a Path that runs from OKW to DTD westside back parking lot. Then there is a Path that goes from that path to SSR but it's a golfcart path. Some maps have it listed for walking others do not.

I don't thnk there is any signage either way but not sure as it's been some time since I walked it.

The walkway begins behind Building 55 in the South Point area at OKW. It is paved all the way, but is closed at dusk since it is not lighted. It follows the Trumbo Canal. You will pass the old Treehouse Villas along the way as well as the waterway towards PO.

Is not a golf path (walkers are NOT allowed on the cart paths, as noted) although the cart paths do cross the walkway in a couple of places. The walkway is used by maintenance staff vehicles - but they are pretty good about getting out of the way of any guests using the walkway.

Once you get near SSR, there is a bridge across the canal (to the left) whcih is used by golf carts and if you continue past that bridge and past the practice green, you can take the sidewalk around the DD parking lot towards Cirque. Caskbill has measured the distance by GPS (from Bulding 55 to Cirque) at 0.93 miles.

At one time, that walkway had exercise stations along the way - but they have been gone for years now.

We have seen osprey, all varieties of water birds and otter in the canal over the years. It is a pleasant walk - especially early morning.

Enjoy! :)

We did that walk last month and really enjoyed it, in fact it was my favourite part of the trip :goodvibes

It's a great walk. We do it all the time. As already mentioned, the path closes at dusk, but there is still boat service between SSR, DD, and OKW once the path closes. We love going to the Turf Club or Artist's Palette for a couple meals when we are staying at OKW. OKW doesn't have a counter service with indoor seating like AP, and we love those steaks and Turf Club potatoes at the Turf Club. We usually walk at least one way, often both ways, or take a boat back to OKW.

Here's a few pics of the walk:
