I'm sitting here agonizing over my stupid FP+ selections, trying to formulate a plan. In looking at the map that came with our package info, it looks like there is a new path that could be taken from the Railroad stop in Fantasyland straight to Space Mountain. I need to get from Splash Mountain to Space Mountain fairly quickly and around 3:00 (parade time). Could I hop on the train and take (what appears to be) the little trail????!!

Please say yes!:worship::worship:

Yes, and it's been there for years--probably since Toon Town opened. ;)

That little walkway has always been there, though very few people know about it or use it. I think it was closed for a while during the Storybook Circus construction, but it was open last April. It is a quick way to get from the Fantasyland train station to Space Mountain.

Whether taking the train will be faster than walking depends on how fast you walk and how long you have to wait for a train.

We have done exactly what you are asking about several times, and it works well.

However, I'm not sure the train is running during parade time. Hopefully, some one in the know can comment on this.

Ha ha! Wow! Don't ever remember seeing it before. Of course, we never spent much time in Toon Town.

Just went online to WDW map and it even looks like there is a smoke stop for my DH and MIL. They will be thrilled. :rotfl2:

Thanks for your speedy replies! I am in planning / panic mode today!

Anyone know this?

Yes it's a path behind the Speedway next to the railroad. When you exit Space Mountain, if you turn right instead of left, that's the beginning of the path right there. There just isn't any signage to identify it. Same with the Fantasyland railroad station--turn left instead of right and that's the other end of the path. It's just a quiet, twisty walkway with a smoking area in the middle, and it's a nice place to get away from crowds since so few people ever use it.

If you ever attended MNSSHP that area is a great candy trail!!

No, at MK the WDW Railroad has to stop during the parade because the floats have to cross the tracks where they exit Frontierland.

Yup. Note the red line of the backstage parade route.

Thanks everyone! Love all your maps Robo!!
Here's my current FP+ situation:

12:05 arrival for BOG lunch
1 - 2 arrival BTMR
2-3 arrival Splash Mtn
4 - 5 arrival for Space Mtn
6:20 O'hana ressie

I was going to try to hit BTMR very near 2:00 and get on Splash immediately after, hit the train and walk to Space for the 4 arrival. We're already gonna be speed walking from Fantasyland to Frontierland, so I thought the train would be a nice break.

Obviously, I have until 5 to get to Space Mtn, but was hoping to have time to ride something else in Tomorrowland before we have to head to the Poly.

I may try to change BTMR to 2 - 3, and Splash to 3 - 4 and hit BTMR right before 3 and hopefully the parade will be over and we can catch the train when done with both rides. It's so hard to determine how much time everything's gonna take. We are doing MK on a Sunday with EMH.:scared:

Wow, I learn something new everyday. I never put two and two together that the parade crossed over the tracks. So does the train stop for 30 minutes or so? If I was waiting in line for the train, that would be a long time to wait.

And there is a fenced off place to walk your dog. Just in case you need to.

You have until 2:00 to get from BOG to BTMRR, which I think is doable. Even if lunch takes an hour, you're not going to have any problems getting to BTMRR to hit your FP time. It's an easy walk, especially if you take the "boardwalk" right along the river through Liberty Square and Frontierland. If you ride BTMRR right before 2:00, get on Splash right after 2:00, you'll then have plenty of time to get back across the park, especially if you take the boardwalk again, come in the back side of Fantasyland near the Rapunzel bathrooms, and then the "secret path." You wouldn't be crossing the parade route at all that way.

BTW, for those who hate crowds, the "secret path" is actually an amazing spot to catch the fireworks because they're going off right over your head. We'd already seen Hallowishes at a party earlier in the week and our son isn't a fan of fireworks anyway because of the loud noises, so we decided to "hide" from the fireworks by being on that candy trail during MNSSHP on Friday. Well, that was a huge Parenting Fail since they were going off right over our heads. Poor kid. We thought we were taking him away from the fireworks, instead we stuck him right in the middle of them. Immersion therapy, I suppose. LOL.
