Path behind Tomorrowland Speedway

Is it open during Tron construction? Is it open right now, at least? Do we think it's going away forever?

I would not be surprised if it disappeared forever due to the new attraction.

In 25 years of going to Disney World, I have NEVER taken this back path until our last trip last month. WOW all the innocence of a disney vacation GONE. In SECONDS!

lol in today's modern age I'm surprised they even allow smoking in the park. Disney should give all smokers a special sealed 'helmet' so they can smoke to their hearts content without giving the rest of us lung cancer. Perhaps they can create a special ride / attraction out of it?

Ironically, this path is a very cool 'treat' during Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween as there tends to be a number of CM's parked their with bowls of candy! Kids favorite....

Currently the construction is on the other side of the trees but I expect that path to to be removed within the next year or so.

You can still smell it thoroughly from People Mover and TS.

I'll be sad to see it go, though I don't like walking through all the smoke. Quiet spots and walkways seem to be a low priority with Disney these days. We've really enjoyed taking a little break back there when we've been lucky enough to find a smoke-free spot. It's a nice place to recharge and plan our next move. Wish they'd make more areas like this.

This has quickly evolved from a "is the path going to still be there" to a "smoking is bad" thread. But you're right the DSA's should be in out of the way spots and even better is when there's only one way in and out. That way neither group has to encounter each other because it's not a pass through route. I would hate for them to close that path as it is a nice shortcut.

You must have missed all the announcements made at D23 last year. There were a lot. Tron ride was one of them. There's a thread in the Rumors area that covers everything coming between now and WDW's 50th

Oh wow, when you look at it like that, yeah, it's hard to imagine the path surviving construction. But more surprising is HOW MUCH REAL ESTATE the Speedway consumes! That smog machine has got to gooo.

I don't like walking by the smoking areas, but I have been able to get some great train photos as it passes by while walking along that path.

I though the path was never going to survive the New FL construction. It was just announced as we arrived for our 2009 trip, and I thought that would be the last time I would see it and walk on it. I was wrong, obviously.
