I made a Steak and Onion pie for dinner this evening, and was running short on time so used a recipe for pastry that my neighbour had given me a while ago. I was really surprised at how easy it was to make and how nice it was so I thought I would share. Of course, you may already use this method and I may be just waaaaaaay behind the times. I always use the rubbing in method with Fat/Marg/Flour. Anyway give this a try and see what you think.

2 1/2 fluid ounces Water
3 1/2 fluid ounces Corn Oil
8 ounces SR Flour
Pinch Salt

Put Water and Oil into Food Processor and mix until emulsified.
Add flour (I sifted mine into the bowl) and salt, and mix till it
just begins to come together in a ball.

Take out and roll out on a floured surface.

Make pie - brush with Egg and bake.

This should be used right away and not left to stand and is scrumy when eated hot.

We all really enjoyed the pie I made and it was all ready for the oven in about 5 minutes.

Give it a try.

:D :D :D

Jan, I might just give this a go. Pastry making is always so messy and time-consuming that it puts me off doing it very often. Who remembers having to make rough-puff and flaky pastry at school? With one of them (can't remember which) we had to freeze it and finish it off the following week. Now that is a long time to wait for a pie!
