So I've got this new book for recipe cards and it has categories for "Soups and Salads" and "Pasta", and I can't decide what to put a recipe for pasta salad under. Would it be considered pasta or a salad? I say salad, my mom says pasta. What do YOU think?

I'd go with salad, as I serve it as a side dish, not a main dish.

salad... its a pasta SALAD... usually there is more involved than pasta--like veggies and its served cold and as a side dish...these things all make it a salad (I would also put potato salad in a salad category even though the main component is potato)

Where would you put Chicken Alfredo? Under meat or pasta?

I say it's a salad.

For me, it would be salad. Assume you file it, though. Where would YOU look for it -- under pasta or salad? File it where it's comfortable for you and where you'll find it again.

Salad...because that's where I usually find the pasta salad recipes in most of the cookbooks I use.

File two cards. One under salad. One under pasta.

Under the salad category, put the recipe for the pasta salad.
Under the pasta category, put a card that says "See salad category for pasta salads"

Salad...same as potato salad...I wouldn't put that under vegetables.

For me, it would be under Pasta, the same place Chicken Parm would be filed.

For pasta salad, under the salad option.

Potato salad, macaroni salad or pasta salad are all salads that are served cold. They are different from green salads.

I would put it wherever you are most likely to remember to look.

For me it would go under salads because it is served cold along with chicken salad, tuna salad, fruit salad, tortellini salad etc. but that's just me.
