I never ask personal questions like this here but it seems to be the best place to gather some information about a topic on which I am clueless. So here goes, I hope someone can help...
A family member of mine has not paid their car taxes for the last two times they were due, the town send the bills to a Marshall for collection. They need to be paid by the end of the month. I am helping out this family member by paying these. (That part I don't need guidence on)
There is a PO box listed to pay the Marshall and a phone number. I would prefer to bring cash or a money order to the Marshall so that
A. a receipt can be obtained and
B. there is none of my information (ie checking account #, name) associated with this family members bills.
When I call the number though I get the answering machine of the Marshall at home (I guess Marshalls don't really have offices, here in Connecticut anyway) I could give my family member the cash and have them write a check but they aren't thrilled with the idea of their account number being out there either.
Does anyone have any insight into this type of situation. What is the best way to pay?
