No problem, you're welcome. You shouldn't feel silly. Its not something one would normally think of. We just filed with our Post Office and we received them in 10 days during December. Must have been a slow time for Boston.

It depends. Assuming you're on an excursion not in a U.S. territory, I would just double bag the passports in a Ziploc and stash it somewhere safe. On Castaway Cay, it doesn't seem like the police are going to pick you up for anything. I just leave it on the ship and bring my driver's license in a drybox, because that's all you need. Be sure to test your drybox before you depend on it; sometimes they don't seal correctly.
