My sister is taking her children, ages 12 and 9, on a DCL cruise in November. The only destinations are Nassau and Castaway Cay.

Do these children require a passport, or will a birth certificate be sufficient?

Thanks!

Unless something has recently changed, that is a closed-loop cruise with those ports and a passport is not required.

We just got them for our kids and we are taking our 1st cruise. I did it more for the "what if" emergency factor. Im not a risk taker with that :)

btw- its a perfect excuse to plan another trip out of the US :lmao:

Yeah, despite what I wrote (which is the rule), we also got passports for everyone before our Disney cruise last year. Just made me more comfortable.

Agreed! We also got them for the grandkids because of the "what if". OP a passport is necessary if you have to fly home because of an emergency.

Good to know - we went on the same one in feb 09 and heard a ton of warnings about future cruises. We've been thinking of going on one leaving from Seattle to Alaska, but it stops in Victoria - I wonder if we'd need passports...
