Passports for children for Bahamas?

We're doing the 4-night Bahamian Dream cruise. Do our children need passports for Nassau or will birth certificates be sufficient? Thank you!

I'm firmly in the "passports for everyone" camp.

That said, the minimum requirement for a closed loop cruise (begins and ends in the same US port) for US citizens for ID is a birth certificate, plus (for those 16 and over) a government issued photo ID. However, if there were some problem, and you have to fly home from a foreign port, you can't do so without a passport (book).

And be sure to get the passport. The card isn't any better than just having a birth certificate.
