Passporter?

I really liked Passporter. I felt it was a great reference for us as it'd been 10 years since my last trip and I didn't remember much. :confused3

I love the fact that the authors offer different opinions on everything. I also loved the fact that they list book updates to the most recent editions online (I'm not sure if other books have that).

IMHO, the information was an easy read, thorough, and digestible, especially for those who have very busy schedules. I was able to read some, stop, and pick it back up with relative ease.

I marked up my book something fierce! To avoid not being able to find a page I knew I would need to reference later, I marked the page with mini-post-its and labelled them so I knew where to find the food section, our hotel, and all the park maps. With the elastic close on the book, all of my markers stayed in place and didn't fall out.

My book came in particular handy when someone asked us for directions in EP during pm EMH. I was able to direct her to where she needed to go.

My mother is the 3rd person to use our PP in the last year (since January) and she loves it. My other friend who's brother is a CM used it on her trip over the summer and I noticed that she made marks in the book too! (I found that part a little humorous...)

I would go to a Barnes & Noble or Borders and peek in one to see if it's the right guide for you. :thumbsup2

Best of luck!

TO address WDW Fan #1... I actually didn't keep anything in my book for saving. There are enough pockets in the book to keep ressie confirmations, schedules, keepsakes (for up to 11 days, I think) but I didn't use it for that. The information was very concise (only about 1-2 paragraphs per item) and covered the whole World - hotels, parks, dining plan, restaurants, etc. You should take a peek the next time you are near a bookstore, you may be pleasantly surprised.

I love this book and I buy one eacn and every trip.It makes it so convienient to store all my important trip info. After the trip it makes a great keepsake too.

I splurged and got the Passporter binder. So I can use it for other trips as well as WDW. You can order more envelopes from them. And I set up my own pages in Word - packing lists, schedule pages, budget stuff, etc. that I can use for other travel too. I love it.

good planning and organization tool. UG has a free tripplanner on their website that fits nicely in the binder.

Lacks detailed information and find their personal photos cheesy.

Best thing for me is the maps of the four parks.

Sturdy cardstock, compact, and instead of corresponding numbers for the attractions like the Disney maps (which are sorely lacking) the name of the attraction is typed in bold right where that attraction is in relation to the rest of the park. I love the maps.

Totally agree with this. Passporter was the book we packed with us to Disney (we also had UG and another book). UG was also good. Both were worth the $.

I love my Passporter. If it was my 1st time to Disney I would not rely solely on this but it helps me keep everything handy and organized and it is great for keeping notes about what you did on what day. I also like looking back on them to reminisce.

Thanks for all the great info!

I like the sound of the maps. Is the binder small enough to carry into the parks?

Yes, at least on the standard version. Assuming you have are carrying at bag of some kind. It is too large to fit in a pocket. It is about the size of a day planner and between one and two inches thick if I recall correctly.

We carried ours into the parks on our first trip, and on more recent trips have just removed the maps, or other key sections.

I agree. The Passporter is worth it just for the maps. I pull them out, make color photocopies, cut them down, and laminate them. I make sure to have a set for each adult. They're small emough to fit in the front pocket of a backpack and are so much more convenient than the the official park maps.

Great idea - I would never have thought of that. I toyed with the idea of taking the maps but I didn't want to lose them. This way I can "have my cake and eat it too". Thanks.

I bought the Passporter. I guess i was indifferent to it. The maps were good but we never took them to the Parks and I have been to WDW several times anyway so though they were great maps, they weren't as valuable as the y would be to a first timer or someone who hasn't been in many years. AS for t he pockets I am Obsessive with the capital O so I already made a binder with my own special pockets and pages. So it wasn't of value to me for that. I think which guide book or online travel olanner you use really depends on your personanality. I use TGM but I know others use other planners or a combo of two or more.

I'll echo many of the comments - we love our passporter. Yes it has its drawbacks like any other book, but the passpockets are great if you use them. They help you plan the trip ahead of time, and if you write the info while you're at the park it serves as a great trip souvenier along with details to help plan your next trip.
