Of course now less than 24 hrs. before I leave I have decided I must have an organizer for all my paperwork! 4 Travelers for the cruise and 3 days in WDW accumulates many papers/tickets etc...

I thought Passporter had an organizer, do they sell that at large book stores or only online?

What do others use to keep things organized! I am skipping the gym today to get this (Shhh - don't tell my trainer :p )

I am willing to buy an accordian folder however I don't know if there are small ones?

Okay everyone, the PANIC:eek: is really settling in now! My poor DH can't wait to leave for work to get out of my psychosis :hyper:

Kids are off to school! Now where do I even begin! :earseek:

Breathing I guess would be a good start! Really folks how do you organize your papers!

Thanks,
Carolyn :wave2:

Last June for our trip to WDW I got a three ring binder and some numbered tab
dividers. I arranged everything by date and/or activity. It worked out great and I am keeping it with my other travel info so I can refer to it in the future if needed.

We are going to Universal and Marco Island in January and I am doing the same thing for that trip. I will also put one together for the our November cruise when it gets closer.

There are accordian folders in many sizes-- zip on over to an Office Max and maybe you can still make it to your workout!;) Have a wonderful cruise!

We use a plastic accordian folder for ours cruises. They have several pockets for keeping reservations, passports and other documents we use on the trip. It's easy to hand carry all the way up to checkin and you know where everything is. Especially the passports!

Then after the cruise we keep them as memory holdings for each of the cruises.

They are really cheap and available at WalMart.

The Disney World Passporters are organizers. The Passporter cruise guide I have is just a perfect bound paperback.

I will second the recommendation to use a multi pocket organizer for the cruise. We have been on 3 cruises and learned that the one with 10 or 12 slots works best.

For example:

Travel documents: Air / Hotel / Maps
Pre Night
Embarkation
Day 1 ---- 7
Debarkation
Travel Home

We have a file folder inside in pocket for the day with our plans and a cash envelope for the needs of the day

For example, on the St. Thomas day we knew about cab fare, admission to the beach, tips, food etc, and had all this set up before we left. We just pulled the folder and went.

It also help to store tickets to Charactor breakfast and reservation tickets on the days upcoming.

We did tips ahead of time on a sea day and put them in the folder for the last day.

This other thing is a place to put the amazing amount of paper that you receive and want to keep. Navigators, etc.

Hope this helps,

Regards from the Compulsive Planners Hospital

I bought a 10-12 sectioned organizer.

I labeled everything, and it is stuffed to the max!

I kept out ticket packet whole which take up alot of space, once we are onboard, I can thin them out, (I am assuming)

Rental, Hotel stuff also will get tossed once we are on the ship!

The size I purchased was letter envelope size Maybe that is 8 1/2 x 4? I think that worked out well.

Thanks to all for the tips!

John - I am out of control! Can you hear me in CT? I/We finally finished packing it is 10:30 PM - our ride comes at 8:45 in the morning! I am off to be to catch some ZZzzzzz's and dream of the Pixie :teeth:

This is my last post for the pre-planning section of the trip - please bring your seatbacks up and return your tray tables to the upright and locked position :hyper:

Mickey Mouse here we come

I love it!
I guess if we were not planners we wouldn't be on this site. I'm trying my best to relax and enjoy but it does go somewhat against my nature. I'm working on it. Saturday can't come soon enough.

For my three cruise trips I have used a 9x12 Oxford folder with straps. The one I use has 6 tabbed slots. I chose this size so that most of the paper (which is 8.5x11) can fit into it flat. That way I don't have to unfold and refold the paper as I need to see it or use it. I keep all the most important papers in it so I can hand carry it with me and know they are safe.

ps: I have an advanced degree from the Compulsive Planners University!

On my first cruise I brought all 4 document books intact with us.

Now I bring 1 intact book and just tear out the required documents from all the other books. Those document books are heavy and I found that it was not necessary to bring all of them.

Are the organizers really necessary or is a folder enough? How much paperwork can there really be?

I like the idea of the pocket folders...it beats the clear plastic gab I am storing all my stuff in!!!

Thanks to all you compulsive planners. Its comforting to know that I am "normal" I have almost everything planned and I don't leave until 8/21/04!!! :jester:

Our AAA travel agent gave us a black cloth organizer thing that closes with velcro. A little larger than a business envelope, it was just the right size to hold our tickets, passports, etc.

I don't think you'll have too much "stuff" to organize -- you'd have much more for a Disney World vacation.

Slightly related topic . . . While you're thinking of organization, consider something in which to carry your Key to the World card around the ship. If you're like me, you probably don't have pockets in all your shorts. Some people had lanyard-type things that looked handy. If you have children who are old enough to be "on their own" a bit, be sure they have a place to keep their cards too.

Spent some time today on my organizer. I put my cruise docs and and plane reservations in it. I also checked to make sure I had everything I needed.

The only thing left is to put our passports in it.
:cool1: :happy1:

Just back and let me tell you the organizer I bought was a lifesaver! Not to mention a time saver!

You see in my previous post what I purchased but these are the times it came in most handy!

I dropped off the rental car while DH and kids were left in line at checkin! The line was very, very, very fast and he made it to the front right as I walked through the door but prior to that he had called me over our 2-way radio to say a Disney employee said we were missing something from our paperwork! I was able to say no we are not, that can be found in this section under our cruise documents, my packet! The terminal worker was highly impressed that my DH could get what he needed so readily! Not to mention the people on the Budget van back to the terminal were impressed that I had an organizer! The were heading out on the Glory that morning obviously they don't have a site like the dis to get the great tips, they didn't have organizers!

Then, my DH was able to find anything he needed during the trip! I just kept sending him back to the organizer! Our trainer wrote up a weeks worth of workouts if he was going to the gym, it was in the organizer, if he needed labels to mail a postcard --- you guessed it, in the organizer!

It was great! Get one, it was $2.99 and well worth it!
