Do we need to take our passports with us when we go ashore in Tortola in order to get back on the ship?

We just took our room key, and drivers license, passport wasn’t required. I do remember them saying if you have a non-us drivers license you might want to take your passport as customs might not recognize a non us drivers license.

If it is necessary to have a passport in a port, that will be mentioned in shipboard announcements and at the evening show. At most Caribbean ports, everyone needs a Key to the World card and everyone over 16 needs a government-issued photo ID to get back on the ship. As Disneygirlxo91 mentioned, if your ID is not from the US, it won’t hurt to have a passport, but otherwise it is a personal preference.

I never go anywhere in a foreign country without my passport, and I leave a photocopy in my stateroom safe.

Thank you very much !!

Thanks for the tip about the announcements. I didn't know that.

Ours are US ID'S.

I am the opposite. I am afraid of getting pickpocketed but I know a photocopy won't always work. We didn't need it in Tortola they just looked at our KTTW card. I had my license in case I wanted an adult drink.

Small plug for the H.M. Prison Museum. The lady working there told great stories about the place and some Caribbean history. It was a short walk from the Port and only $5 a person to tour. A fun way to get off the boat without breaking the bank :)

The museum sounds like something we would enjoy! We are very excited to be going to Tortola as neither of us has ever been before.
