Passport Workers on Strike today

Just been on the news, that due to staff shortages the Passport Offices are on Strike today.

IMO - not a great time to go on strike with a massive backlog still needing attention. Though if they get more staff due to the strike then ok. Doubt the government will listen though as they are already on their jollies.

At the risk of sounding sarcastic, which I don't mean to do at all, this is the whole point of a strike - to have an impact!

But you are right, the government will not listen. And, in fairness, the percentage of people who will actually take part is very small.

We had a strike at our place a couple of weeks ago and there were only a handful of people out on the picket line. People just can't afford to lose a day's pay in the current climate.

As an ex-worker in this area, this strike should of took place a couple of months ago to have an impact. All new staff receive 6 weeks of training before they allowed into the passport office area, so now we are talking about September before new staff are ready. Current staff will get overtime.

There was a lot of staff on strike outside the Liverpool Office yesterday.

Anyway I hope everyone on the Dis boards get their passport's in time.
