Passport Stamps

In another thread, it was answered that they do not stamp passports at cruise ports. That will disappoint my daughter a little when we go on a cruise.

My question now is that we know they don't do it. Is there a place at the port that you can ask to have it done?

Oh no! I don't think so, but hope someone will prove me wrong!

In the Caribbean cruises, other than coming back to the US, there's really not a check of your passport (as they would do if you were arriving via air in Europe, for instance)...so no real customs/passport checkpoint to really even ask for a stamp at! Maybe..Maybe if you have to go through an X ray in the port (before the one when you board the ship--e.g. Falmouth) those security people might be customs/immigration people so might help???

in a lot of ports there's not even that, though! The whole ship is cleared to debark without having to go through passport control.

Good luck!

I was reviewing 2015 WBPC cruise Navigators (am booked for 2017) and noticed that it stated you could drop off your passport to have stamped from the Panama Canal authority if you wanted. They gave time and place onboard. Possibility at other locations?

I have read that some ports have places you can go if you want your passport stamped, but it's definitely something you have to seek out, not something done automatically. Maybe if you post which ports you will be stopping at, someone might know the location for those particular ports.

:) We don't even have a cruise booked. We can only dream until we have an accident settlement complete.

I remember reading at one point that you could ask Guest Services and they would get your passport stamped, but I cannot vouch for the validity of this, as we have never done it, and it might be old or bad information. It could be worth asking though.

In some of the Med ports they do collect the passports and stamp them. It depends on local regulations. I've never had them stamped in the Caribbean.

On the WBPC, it was a "souvenir" passport stamp. It was not an official entry stamp. No other ports had a place to get a stamp. I actively sought out the stamps for Cozumel, Cartagena, Cabo and PV....NOPE!

We didn't get a stamp when we entered Canada (Vancouver) via cruise ship from San Diego. I was disappointed.

We sought out stamps in Nassau and Grand Cayman. Haven't even thought about it in Sint Maarten. St Thomas is USVI and I don't know if they would do that for a U.S. passport. That's about all the places we've been on cruise ships so far.

I once got a USVI stamp because we took an excursion from St Thomas (where the ship was docked) to Tortola. Upon return we were taken to customs in St Thomas where we had to clear and did get a stamp. Not sure if that's done any more.

They do it for the Panama Canal because they bring Customs officials on board for the transit. We've sailed a lot and I have never heard of them doing it in any other ports.

The only other time was when DCL had to collect all passports one day, and everyone was assigned times the next day to meet witH Scotland officials onboard with our passports. We all joked it was because the Scotland officials wanted to experience the Disney Magic.

We were able to get the kid's passports stamped in Nassau. We asked the Port security people and they pointed us to a building infront of the port.

We had the option of getting our passport stamped via the Amtrak from Seattle to Vancouver once we arrived in Canada. It was a 30 minute wait in the customs area. Since we had nothing to declare we "noped" on out of there seeing as we have been to Canada many times previously.
