Passport Signing?

We received our passports, but I have a question about a minor signing them. My DD is 7 - does she sign the passport or do I? MD.
 
You sign your daughter's name on the line and then yours just above it and the word "for".

John Doe for
Jane Doe

Interesting! We have all three kids done with the "for" so I looked it up too. I'm not allowed to post URLS yet - but I did find that she can can sign herself and "for" is okay too according to travel.state.gov

On the DCL website it says you have to have a pass port after 12/31/2006. Is this correct or should it be 2005?

I guess you can go either way. We signed out kid's first passports (they got them at age 2), but both learned to sign their names in cursive by kindergarten, so they signed their renewal passports at age 7.
