It will probably come back quickly since you don’t need it right away.Great to hear! I just mailed mine last week, don't need it until February.
We did the expedited and got ours in 4.5 weeks...Darn! Just sent in my wife's passport renewal today and we paid for expedited processing--possibly unnecessarily. Maybe we'll get it in 2 weeks? Not that we have any international travel scheduled in the near future. Her passport was valid for one week past our trip on the Wish a couple weeks ago so we figured we ought to renew ASAP. We didn't want a repeat of my passport renewal that took about 8 months back in 2021, but there were pandemic-induced delays back then.
Ours was slightly less for DS (renewal but 1st passport after turning 16), maybe 9 or 10 weeks. We did regular for DS ‘renewal’ and it was 11 weeks from May to August.
Ours took TWO AND A HALF MONTHS. Just got them last week. I’m from the government and I’m here to help. Total racket. It will probably come back quickly since you don’t need it right away.
Several years ago when I renewed my passport, tracking put it at the Philadelphia post office. Later, it was reported lost by USPS. I didn’t worry about it because I had gotten my new passport before the renewal application was reported lost.I mailed mine for renewal on November 4th to the Philadelphia office. I used Priority Mail, not for speed but to be able to track its delivery. It was picked up 11:30pm on November 5th. (Odd that they'd be working on a Sunday night.) The passport status website showed it as received on Tuesday the 6th.
It has already been mailed back to me and tracking shows it's due to arrive Monday, the 27th.
Total time, door to door: 23 days.
I did not pay extra for expedited service.
Right now is very off peak time for them and spring is the busiest. Just something to keep in mind. I considered waiting until January to mail it, simply to have a later expiration date. Our next travel isn't until mid March but I was afraid after the holidays it would take longer than usual. No one needs more stress in life, especially self-inflicted.![]()
