Passport Question

Our Canadian passports will expire April 7, 2010.

DS and I leave for FLA March 28 and return April 6, 2010. I know countries other than the US (mostly European) require that passports be valid a certain number of weeks or months past your return date. When I called to enquire about the US, I was told there were no restrictions and that if the passports were valid, they would be accepted.

So -- Do we need to renew our passports or will Canadian border officials accept them until they expire? (Money crunch).

With all that has happened over the last few days with Northwesr airlines and hightened security I would renew them. Why take the chance

According to their site no you do not need to renew them

I would renew. You'll get your new passport in 10 business days, why take the chance.
It's recommended to have your passport valid for 6months whenever you are leaving the country. What if something should happen and your flight is delayed or canceled 24hrs? Then you will have a expired passport and won't be able to fly.

I agree with OP--Have them renewed. Better to be safe than sorry.
It is worth the investment. You will eventually need the new ones anyhow.
