Passport question

Does everyone now have to have the passports with the little chip in them. My wife and I have becuase we've only just got new passports, but our children don't but their passports don't run out yet. Is it worth getting them new passports just to be on the safe side????

We got back yesterday and my wife's passport doesn't have a chip in. She didn't have any problems getting through passport control, so looks like you should be fine.

We landed this morning,only my wifes has a chip mine and 2 daughters doesnt we were all fine..
