Hi All,

Passover 2016 is about a month later than Easter that year. My kids have off from school that week-4/23 to 5/1. I know the calendar doesn't usually work out that way and was thinking (or hoping) that it might be a less crowded week since perhaps more people would be off for Easter in March or earlier in the spring?

I can't remember the last time the holidays worked out this way. Anybody have experience at wdw during Passover when it's not Easter as well??? How were the crowds?

Thanks!

Ok. Thanks! NY schools and New Hampshire schools are off but it seems most other states have an earlier spring break. So hopefully it won't be too crazy.

We are in Northern NJ and have that same week off in 2016. I was hoping it was going to be a great week to travel but maybe a lot of Northeast states are going to have that week off.

Same thing happened in 2008, Easter was in March and Passover in April. We went for Passover that year hoping it would be less crowded. It was definitely doable. We usually go Presiden'ts week because the kids are off from school. The crowds Passover week reminded me of President's week, but with better weather. It will be crowded, but if you arrive early and have a plan it will be great.

That seems like a good week to me. Easter is so early that year, then most of the spring breaks should be over across the country anyway.

Thanks everyone! Last time we were there it was the end of August and crowds were supposedly 4s and 5s but it felt like 10s to us on some days! Crowds are not my thing. I'm hoping that with the weather hopefully being a little less brutal and my kids being 5 years older that this will be a little easier. I guess you never know with the crowds.

It will if schools have off.

I guess I misunderstood what the OP was asking. I thought the question was does the holiday of Passover make a difference in attendance at WDW, rather than the specific week that Passover is in this year.

Normally Passover and Easter fall during the same week that many kids have off from school. In 2016 they are a few weeks apart. Many school where I live are giving the kids off a few days for Easter and a week for Passover.

Most schools where I live give kids a week off in the spring not connected with any holiday except by coincidence.

It would be reasonable that (a) 2015-2016 school calendars haven't been finalized; (b) spring break will be before the last week of April; and (c) Passover will have zero effect on crowds.

If it makes you feel any better, I live in PA and our schools do not have off that week. :) Enjoy!

Sometimes they fall within the same week. I would say that most years they don't, and we celebrate both holidays in our house.

We are in NY and don't have a schedule for 2016 yet. Last year the schedule was approved in mid March...

Heat can really affect one's perception of crowds and how much you can get done in a day. And your kids being older will help so much too!

Happy planning :goodvibes

Incorrect. Looking at 20 years of data: in 16 of them, the first day of Passover and Easter are within 7 days of each other. The exceptions are 2016 (27 days), 2008 (28 days), 2005 (28 days), and 1997 (23 days).

2016 - first day of Passover April 23; Easter March 27
2015 - first day of Passover April 4; Easter April 5
2014 - first day of Passover April 15; Easter April 20
2013 - first day of Passover March 26; Easter March 31
2012 - first day of Passover April 7; Easter April 8
2011 - first day of Passover April 19; Easter April 24
2010 - first day of Passover March 30; Easter April 4
2009 - first day of Passover April 9; Easter April 12
2008 - first day of Passover April 20; Easter March 23
2007 - first day of Passover April 3; Easter April 8
2006 - first day of Passover April 13; Easter April 16
2005 - first day of Passover April 24; Easter March 27
2004 - first day of Passover April 6; Easter April 11
2003 - first day of Passover April 17; Easter April 20
2002 - first day of Passover March 28; Easter March 31
2001 - first day of Passover April 8; Easter April 15
2000 - first day of Passover April 20; Easter April 23
1999 - first day of Passover April 1; Easter April 4
1998 - first day of Passover April 11; Easter April 12
1997 - first day of Passover April 22; Easter March 30

I do not believe it will have zero effect on the crowds. Look at President's week. Most of the country does not get the whole week off from school, yet the crowds are 10s, 9s, and 8s every day. When there is a region with no school, crowds go up. The northeast is off for President's week and crowds go up. The same will happen for Passover in 2016 as it did in 2008. It will not be Christmas crowds, but school will be out, people will go. It will be manageable, but more crowded than the same week in 2015, when it wasn't Passover.

.

I doubt that enough schools purposely give Passover off for Passover ON ITS OWN to have an impact. The crowds are due to Spring breaks -- some districts have them coincide with Easter, some don't. I think this is a good place for use of historical crowd calendars on TP.

Thank you all! So I looked at TP and it seems that crowds for that week in 2008 (when Easter was about a month earlier) were anywhere from 1-6. We might be ok!

Correct. As I indicated above, it's extremely unlikely that ANY school system with a spring break would schedule that break the last week of April.
