This looks like a fun trip and I just wondered what it was like from anyone who has already done this.......what time did you leave the ship...how was the beach....do you get soaked on the ride there?

Most were on sea days. I only did Mixology and I would definately do it again because it was very fun- very interactive, informative, and entertaining- it was hilarious to watch the other cruisers making the drinks. My husband got a video of me making layered shots and the looks I was making trying to concentrate were quite funny (and sort of embarassing.)

I did the Passion Island by Twister excursion, but I did it on the CARNIVAL Dream about a month ago. It was FUN!!! And yep, we got really wet!

So, did you arrive at the beach soaked???? ha! ha!
What is Passion Island like? Do you have any photos?
Anyone else done this yet?

Sorry for the delayed response! I typed up a big long thing to respond yesterday and went to hit SEND to post it, and the whole thing disappeared on me! I was so aggravated I needed to step away before coming back to rewrite the whole darned thing! Hehehe

Ohhhh yes we were soaked! It was so fun! The very first spin out had us drenched!

Passion Island was cool…we really enjoyed ourselves there. White sandy beach and pretty teal ocean water. That was NICE! I do wish, however, that they would provide beach umbrellas though…even to rent. That’s the only downside…there was no shade to run to without being WAY away from the water. So even though I literally was reapplying 50+ sunblock a few times an hour, I got baked out there.

I’ve been to Cozumel twice now and I just love this port! But I think if I had to choose between Passion Island or going to Playa Mia (think it was a beach day excursion deluxe or something like that), I would say we enjoyed Playa Mia more than Passion Island. Playa Mia was just gorgeous! All of the lounge chairs had beach umbrellas, which made it easy to hang out for hours out there! Usually I get way too hot and burned to really enjoy a beach, but it was perfect there! The water was pretty, they had fun water apparatus, great food buffet, and free drinks!

Oh that was just one other thing…the food at Passion Island was just okay. It really wasn’t all that great.

So basically…you’ll have a great time at Passion Island and the Twister is REALLY fun…but we really loved our prior trip to Cozumel where we visited Playa Mia instead. But either way, both were really pretty and we had fun!

I'll try to see if I can post a pic or two..but we used a waterproof disposable camera, so I wasn't very happy with the photo quality we got. (:^(

See if this works...looks like I have to post a link, not just upload a file.
welcome

If this is the island I am thinking of, it is where they film the corona commercials and it is beautiful. We did this on carnival liberty.

Thanks so much for your responses.......it is so, so helpful.
We are going in December so I am a little worried about getting to the beach soaked if it is not a hot and sunny day...whether that would take the fun out of it at all.
the link hasn't worked I'm afraid! How would you rate the beach?

Did you do the Playa Miz beach trip with Disney? Was it crowded? Again, any photos?
Thanks so much

We went to passion island in cozumel but what is passion island twister excursion? is it the same thing and place?

We jsut got back from passion island in Cozumel on the 12th off of a carnival cruise and we had fun there. it was a 40 minute ride on a catamaran boat to and from the beach. so that took some of the fun out of it. there were 3 hours on the beach which was pretty but there were 3 large catamaran boats there filled with people so the beach was crowded. There were 3-4 big blow up play slide/trampoline and sphere in the water to play in. the water was pretty but it was not as clear as i expected (guess the sand there is more fine so it mixes in the water more than in the cayman islands). we found conch shells and brought them home (no one took them away!) and we enjoyed having free rum punch (the margaritas were not good) and a free buffet. The buffet was so so... nothing special. there was mahi mahi, chicken and fresh guacamole and pico along with some sides. Since that cruise was a kid-less one for us I mostly consumed rum punch ;) and guacamole :cool1: I would say the beach was pretty but there was seaweed uncleaned off the beach and what we did was ask for our chairs to be places away from everyone else under a coconut tree! so while everyone else sat in unshaded seats by the ocean we sat off to the side under the shade of our own coconut tree behind bushes that blocked the rest of the crowd!
did not see many small kids there

We did passion island with carnival this past July. Hmmmm...if I were to rank passion island on a scale of 1-10 I think I might go with 7 or 7 1/2? The water wasn't as clear as I had expected too, but it was still pretty...just made underwater pictures harder to do.

I would rate Playa Mia more of a 9 or so.

As for being crowded at passion island, honestly I didn't feel crowded at all. Seemed like just the right amount of crowd to me to where I didn't feel like I was elbow to elbow.

I don't know what temp the water would be in a cooler month, but in July it was perfect. I could almost walk right in...and I take forever to inch my way in to pools and oceans and such. (:^D
