Passing the driving time?

Ooh! If you want a good DL trivia book, get the Disneyland Encylopedia. Whoever isn't driving can read random passages from it. It covers everything that was ever at DL. Some of them are surprising. :)

There is the ABC to Z sign game - you have to find a word that starts with your letter.

LOL we do that one too.....love it!!!! :)

Wow you guys are quick for the great advice!

My DF already shut the Book on CD down... sad... I wanted to finally get through Fellowship of the Ring.... but she has already read it a million times! :rotfl2:

We might have to try some of those games! probably not the 999,999 toys though.... :rotfl:

I already have a partial disney playlist! It's only 5.2 hours though! :rolleyes1

What is this game about the GPS?:confused3

Well we are relatively new to having a GPS so the one who is not driving will go to points of interest and chose a category then we just see what pops up. Some of the names of the surrounding places are funny, we then play off that and make up funny stories. :) Yes, we are strange.......lol

I like to make up stories about the other drivers that we see. . . . we might see a young man driving with an old lady in the passenger's seat and I'll say that the old lady is really an escaped criminal from the old folks jail and she has carjacked the car and is heading to her crazy daughter's house. My husband may say that the young man is the older lady's grandson and he has taken her from the old folk's home for her trip of a lifetime - heading to DL to ride Soarin' for the first time. You get the idea. It is fun!

I love this! We will try it on our June trip with 4 kids in the car. Once the DVD player becomes boring this should help pass the time.

The I'd rather game sounds good too.

We usually play the a-z sign game too, but on those looong stretches of nothing much to see they tire of it easily.

My husband and I like to read a funny book aloud. Usually it is funny because whoever is reading usually starts laughing so hard that you can't even understand them.

The comedy CDs are a GREAT idea! I will have to see if I can find a few. I think that my parents have a couple and maybe I will buy one or see if I can download onto my iphone!

We had a DVD player in our minivan and we will soon have one in our new SUV if it ever gets here:mad:, long story...

The kids watch that and play their DS games. They are both old enough to actually read now, 8 and 5.

We play the alphabet game with different categories. It is always fun to come up with wacky categories like, alphabet game animals, alphabet game action. (For this one you can even act out the actions) A argue, B bounce, etc... This one sort of combines charades and the alphabet game.

We have NEVER made a drive of this distance before. 20 hours over 3 days is going to be rough no matter how we many diversions we have. I fluctuate between being excited and terrified at the prospect!;)

I brought a Mad-libs book once on a car trip as a joke and it was the biggest hit! It's silly, but you can fill a lot of time and have fun doing it. You can also see how much you retained from your English classes :)

We've done this before too! I love Mad-Libs!

Mad libs are great I forgot about those.......one more thing to shop for this weekend.

Our drive is usually about 17-19 hours depending on the traffic over and down the grapevine. We have done this numerous times. My DGF usually watch movies, play games on her PSP or reads. The kids mostly read or sleep, maybe a movie or two...they do like to read. I concentrate on driving and yelling at the folks who zoom by and laugh when they get stopped mainly in Oregon, rarely have seen a cop in Ca. The drive really goes by quickly and I love to look at the countryside.

There is a book called CarSchooling and it has TONS of activities that can be done in the car and are educational. (You don't have to tell your kids that part!) My little guys is 3.5 and just starting to get to the age that it's applicable and we're looking for letters on signs and find the color. We're not movie-in-the-car people, as I'd rather be talking and interacting and have him see what's going on, but our longest trip so far is 5 hours so I may change my tune later on, haha!

we like to keep track of the state plates we see. It's always exciting to see who can get more states.

We have a DVD player too, and 3 Nintendo DS systems that we play together. :) Fun fun, it's harder for the driver tho because they are just driving....we also have Sirius radio so we listen to some comedy stuff, mostly if the girls are sleeping tho because some of it isn't that kid friendly. lol
