Did you pass notes to your friends in school during class? I did! I think that was mostly a "girl thing" though, I don't think boys did much of that. Passing notes was such a thrill back then. Ah, what simple pleasures!

Now I am hearing about students text messaging and IMing during class on their phones, pagers, etc. Does the new generation even "pass notes", as actual written paper notes, anymore? I guess some teachers or teens can answer this one.

I pass paper notes sometimes :rotfl: since I don't have a cell phone (nor do I even need one) to text messege anybody in class.

If I got a 'long note" I didnt read it

I wrote one today. And it was only about 8 words, so Pop Daddy would read it if he found it on the floor.

We aren't alloud to text in school. Doesn't stop some people, but it stops me. I write notes and pass them at lunch.

ALL the time!! I was always getting in trouble for passing notes. Of course, that's the extent of the trouble I got into in school. LOl From K-3rd, it was talking too much and then from 4th on it was passing notes. I think I liked to talk when I was younger! :teeth:

Oh yeah they still pass notes. John-Cole has tons of them. When I am cleaning out his backpack I'm forever finding notes, mostly to him from girls though. Actually I've never seen a note from another boy or a note that he started, they are always TO him and when he answers its usually one or two words and then the girl writes this long note which he answers with one or two words..........so it very well may be a girl thing...LOL!

Oh and it usually consists of,

Who do you like? Why? Do you think I'm pretty? Have you ever kissed a girl? Would you like to?

That kind of stuff!

I remember passing notes. :teeth:

I'm not a teacher or a teenager, but I am a parent.:p My dd recently got in trouble for passing paper notes. As far as I know, she hasn't gotten in trouble for text messaging yet though.

Now that I think about it, I don't know if I ever saw a guy pass a note to one of his guy friends. Any guys here ever pass notes to your male friends :confused3?

My friend Cody will pass notes, if someone else starts them... Jeremy will... um... uh. yep, thats about it.

I graduated 4 years ago from high school and we still passed paper notes - though not really in class per say. We'd write really long notes in class and pass them during passing time. Some of us had notebooks we'd write in so it looked like we were taking notes when in truth we were writing about anything and everything - guys included. If a teacher so much as saw a cell phone or anything electronic besides a calculator they either took it for the rest of class or you were going to the principals office.

In different colleges I've been in, I see people text messaging each other all the time but I also see the paper note passing.

Oh Yeah, I remember! My lab partner and I got in trouble for talking and so we started to pass notes. soon that became a friendship and we became best friends, and then we fell in love while passing notes! My DH and I were HS sweethearts and still going strong! I owe alot to that biology teacher! :cool1:

Yes I remember that I used to pass notes. We would put them inside of our pens. We'd take the top off, put the note inside and the friend would ask to borrow a pen. :rotfl: So corny I know but clever I must say.

My best friend and I were forever passing notes in class. She still has one we passed in church. In that note she wrote about how DL was going to close down America Sings and open some ride called Splash Mountain. It was going to open in 5 years! :earseek:

"Back in the Day" we passed paper notes all the time,
& for some strange reason we always folded them into those
triangle 'footballs' - you know the kind the guys used to flick
across the desks into finger goalposts? Don't ask me why...

But also, remembering Catholic school:
Any conversation while walking to/from class
was *ahem* discouraged,
and so we would pass paper notes inside books
that we would palm off to each other as we passed.

Life was so much simpler then,
when a few demerits were enough of a threat
to keep us in line... Ah, youth...

Oh yeah they still pass notes. Now though you would be surprised at the message in these notes. It is enough to make your hair curl. I have learned a lot this year from reading some of the notes that we have taken up. Mainly it is the girls that write the notes discussing boys and what they have done with them or willing to do with them. A few have even been about what they have done with other girls. The sad part is they are 7th grade girls. The things they put on paper.

I see them writing lots of notes - actually long letters sometimes - but they must exchange them between classes. They don't pass them during class very much. Some guys write them too, but the vast majority are girls.

Yes, paper notes are still used.. at least with my 6th graders.

I'll tell you something even sadder.....my DS is in 3rd grade and I've been to the school 2 times this year because he has received notes from girls telling him what they want to do with/to him.

Not that I'm looking for vengence, but it really gets me is that nothing, nothing was done in way of discipline to the girls. I can't help but imagine the tree my son would have been strung from if it were HE writing this cr@p to them.

No doubt he would have been one of those "expulsion" headlines.

i graduate hs in 2003 and we always passed notes..not too much in class, since i rarely had classes with my close friends..but we usually had a notebook so i looked like i was paying attention, and would write a page note,,then give it to my friend in the hall,,then she would do it the next class..haha
