Passholders and MagicBands?

If you have a MagicBand from an onsite stay last year it should still be active and linked to your MDE account. You can link a new annual pass voucher to your account, which would allow you to book FP+ 60 days in advance (up to 7 days booked at any one time).

China mom's answer applies to AP holders who do not yet have MagicBands. If you don't already have a MagicBand, you have to book and stay at a Disney resort first. You can make FP+ selections from the first day of your onsite stay. You then will always be able to book in a 60 days window from the current date (up to 7 days booked at a time).

Thanks for the clarification. I do already have a Magic Band from back in September.

I didn't put it very well. What I was trying to explain is that AP holders who have not stayed in a resort since the whole FP+ thing can't take advantage of the booking without a reservation until after their first reservation. You should not need to actually check in to begin using it.

Scenario: You have purchased a voucher and have not yet claimed your AP, you should be able to make your FP selections 60 days prior to the start of any resort reservation (use your voucher #). But, you must have a hotel reservation to make this happen. None of this has anything to do with the bands being in your hands. You can reserve FP+ through MDX prior to receiving MB or even if you are going to pick up your bands upon arrival at the hotel.

Scenario: You are a current AP holder but have not been tot he parks since FP+ and MDX. You have to have an active hotel reservation (same as above) but can make your FP+ 60 days out.

Scenario: You have an AP and have stayed on property once since FP+, but have not booked a hotel for your next trip yet, you can make any FP+ selections for up to 7 days worth )not necessarily consecutive) within a 60 day window.

With an AP: If you stay one time on property, thereby having bands, you can now stay off property and use the FP+ advance selection option. You also have the option of throwing away the bands and using your RFID enabled AP card.

hi. i'm new here. :wave2:

i wanted to chime in on this real quick. my family has APs and we just got back from a disney resort stay where we got MBs. the CM told us that every passholder can now request a MB instead of a card and they will send them to you. so yes, you can get a MB without a resort stay.

That was the story. The next phase is that MB will automatically be mailed to Passholders eventually. But, you will still have your AP card and will still need it to take advantage of any discounts associated with the AP. There will be nothing about the band which will identify you as AP for the discounts.

Has this been confirmed? How do AP holders request magic bands?

The CM at Coronado Springs check-in said that you can "call the number" and request a MB. Not very helpful, I know. :rotfl:

Like others have said, the MB will be connected your to AP, but you do still have to show the card to get discounts, etc.

I don't know if that is true. I'm a passholder and I got an email yesterday saying they are now testing FP+ for APs where you will get a MB. After that it says we can not take request to be included in testing.

Sounds likea misinformed cast member. This may be the way it is soon, but as of right now an Annual Passholder without a resort stay cannot get a MagicBand just by requesting one.

A-ha! Maybe this is what he meant? Either way, hopefully they will be available to everyone with an AP soon!

Here is the text of the email that was sent out to passholders yesterday

A special MYMAGIC+ newsflash for Passholders

We continue to make great progress on MyMagic+ for Passholders. As we test and enhance this new service, we want to keep our Passholders in the know every step of the way. So we've created this series to provide helpful tips, highlight important updates and provide answers to your top questions about what's to come.

Passholder testing now in progress
Currently, we are randomly selecting Passholders to take part in a test of our MagicBands and our new Disney FastPass+ service. If you happen to be selected, we will contact you with details.

While we can't accommodate requests to be added to our test list, there are still ways for you to experience MyMagic+ today.

Use our FastPass+ kiosks to try it yourself
Even if you do not receive an invitation to take part in our test, you can still utilize the Disney FastPass+ kiosks now available in all four Parks. (Simply look for the FP+ kiosk signs pictured below.)

With Disney FastPass+ service, you have more than double the experiences to choose from. And you get access to FastPass+ experiences such as parades, fireworks and more attractions than ever before.

You can make three selections per day (in one Park per day) all from one convenient location. And you have the flexibility to change and adjust your selections at other Park kiosks as the day goes on.

As always, if you have any questions, simply ask a Disney Cast Member. They're stationed at each kiosk to help you out.

Love having an annual pass now. I like FP+ so far, haven't used it yet though.
