Passholder emails?

So we activated our passholders on Jan. 3rd. First of all, what a difference the paper passholder ticket is compared to the one I have from the 1980's that was laminated with my photo. I always read on this board and other places about Passholder discounts, previews and other stuff. It is even advertised that Disney will send emails occasionally. I have NEVER received an unexpected email from Disney. The only emails I get are dining related to reservations I have made. I really feel like I am being left out of the "magic". As it is, they did not have the little sheet about the pass, so we didn't realize there was also a discount at the shops till the next trip. We did receive a welcome card in the mail and then another time an "AP" car magnet. So I know our home address is correctly on file. I did call Disney, and the 3rd time, the person did verify my email, the other times, they had no clue on anything passholder related. On top of this, the website was going through changes at the start of the year where it was all messed up at times.

How often do any other passholders get emails? Every time I talk with someone about this, I tell them how they are greatly missing out on a great marketing tool. They have the limited time magic going on. A simple email blast every week or two with what the upcoming magic will be could really get more of the local and not so local (we are 3 hrs away) passholders to come on in more often.

Thanks for any comments.

I don't think I've gotten any passholder emails either. There is a passholder facebook page, I get really good information there. Plus on the Disney World web site there is a passholder area where you can look for great discounts and specials.
I'm 2 hours away from Disney, and we go whenever we get the chance.

Thanks a ton for putting me at ease that I didn't miss stuff I should have received. It helps a bunch!

Embarrassed to ask, but what does it mean to be a passholder? Is this something special or just having your tickets? (again, very ashamed of a stupid question!)

Season tickets more or less, people who have seasonal, annual, or premium passes.
Was up there this weekend and swapped out the paper pass for an RFID plastic card. Cast member taking survey/asking about the app was nice enough to talk and listen to my comments, and wrote some down. None of them really knew if or when any emails ever were sent out, but re-verified my email address.
