I had the flex pay pass for my daughter and I. I just canceled her pass today. She does not enjoy it enough. She prefers Disney Quest because she wants interactive stuff more than rides. I realised that when I could not get her out of the Dr Seuss playground

We have the water parks +DQ pass for her for Disney. I think that is worth the money more than the flex pass. I kept my flex pass for when I go by myself or with my fiance. For me the flex pass is worth it just for the Mardi Gras celebration and the concerts in the spring.

She is happy with my decision. Obviously what does a child love more than water parks. What does a mom love more than an Air conditioned play area? Think hard about your childs needs and wants when you go for an annual pass.

I am not anti universal. I love it. My daughter just does not love it. I was hoping to remind people to think hard before buying passes to any place for their kiddos.

Honestly, how old is the daughter?

Once they make the height requirements for the coasters, and they hear their friends are going to IOA, they'll want to go. It usually happens around the age of 8-9.

She is 9 1/2. She has long been tall enough for coasters. My family is fairly tall. She just really dislikes them. I realised recently on our last trip to Universal that she loves interactive stuff and does not enjoy rides. I guess I am a bad Mom for not noticing sooner.

I personally LOVE Universal and figured she would as well. It is such a fun silly park. So different from Disney. Not that she is hugely fond of the main theme parks at Disney either. She is such a silly girl. She does love Disney quest. If Universal had something like DQ she would be all over it as well.

I should say that she loves the Olive, Seuss Playground and the Jurassic Park areas but that is not any fun for me in the heat outside. Maybe in another year or two she will feel differently. I will restart her pass when she is ready.

:cheer2:

All kids are different and I fear if people come on this board and follow your advice, their children may miss out on something wonderful. I don't think we should advise other parents on what parks their children may prefer based on our own children's likes and dislikes.

I didn't realize that you could cancel a flex pass.

My only advice is to be sure of what your child enjoys before investing in a pass for them. I am not advising against getting the pass just being sure that whatever pass you get for your child will work for your child.

Boy we are a negative bunch today.

You can not cancel your flex pass untill the one year anniversary. Next week is her one year anniversary and she has used her pass twice maybe three times because she dislikes the rides so much.

So basically, it is like not renewing an annual pass?

Sorry we seem so negative but look at it this way: if I posted a thread on the community board that stated that everyone should think twice about taking their teenager to Disney World on a vacation and spending $250 on a 5 day hopper pass because my son didn't like it, what would you think?

How strange. Well, my advice is different. buy a pass if it will save you money to do so, otherwise just get whatever the best ticket deal is. The 85$ for 7 days ticket deal was awesome and worked perfect for us.

of course I still get the ap for myself for the discounts.

Well it sounds like you got your monies worth. If she went three times and you had purchased a day ticket for her, it would have cost: $246.00 Your annual pass (which you purchased a year ago) cost: $193.

My kids loved Universal and IoA when they were that age. We also had Disney PAP's which included Disney Quest. They loved DQ for the first year and then got tired of it so we dropped the PAP and got regular AP's for Disney.

I also don't get the point of your post.
It truly seems like a thinly veiled attempted at creating another
"there is nothing at univerrsal for kids" thread
You got your money's worth out of her pass and decided not to renew.
However your first post makes it sound like you took her, she hated it and universal allowed you to cancel her pass not long after it was first used.

See that is just it. She was having fun, but you didn't enjoy the same things she was. Therefore instead of acting like an adult and sucking it up, you took it out on her and only renewed your pass. Now you plan on going without her so you can enjoy partying at Mardi Gras and concerts

Obviously what does a child love more than water parks. What does a mom love more than an Air conditioned play area? Think hard about your childs needs and wants when you go for an annual pass.
Well obviously my 9 DD prefers IOA to a water park and this mom prefers having fun in IOA with her DD over sitting on my butt in the air conditioning.
Your post do not give the impression that you were thinking hard about her wants and needs. It give the impression that you had rather go to US/IOA to party and that you just want to sit back in comfort and let computer games entertain her.

Xbox 360 in HD+Nintendo Wii on Bigscreen and surround+Guitar Hero+Dance Dance Revolution=More fun, less time waiting, more time playing and less money than disney quest:thumbsup2

So SHE is happy with YOUR decision. SO WHO'S decision was it? And is she happy with the decision or because you are happy? Doing a Dr. Phil here cause there is more to this story.

the OP was very odd - not really asking a question but only offering your negative opinion.

I keep reading it above- lets see child only likes DQ (I am not disney oriented so I guess its Dairy Queen - certainly can stay cool there- OK just kidding.) - I have never been to disney quest and didn't realize it was a major park at WDW. But later you say she likes water parks and you like A/C. So what exactly do both of you like?

Still searching for the inner meaning of the OP. Very strange. But whatever makes you happy. And perhaps even your daughter but I doubt that is upper in your mind.

Oh and since she loves getting etc, then IOA should have been a huge hit with her.
Let me guess... popeye, dudley doright and jurrasic park aren't your thing.

OH I GIVE UP. You do not get the whole point. Get your noses back in joint and move on. I forgot how nobody can say anything bad in this world because 20 gazillion goofballs must pick on or contraindicate their opinion

Good BYE!!!!!!!!!

What a strange post. I don't quite get it. There's always going to be things that people like and don't like. Not sure why the OP couldn't do the things she likes and then go and do things her daughter likes. This sounds more like a selfish thing to me. This is all about a moms needs and wants not the childs.
