Hi just a few questions:

We will using our vacation club for the first time in July 2003.....we are looking to stay Friday-Friday.....I am planning on staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge Fri & Sat. night and then doing the DVC from Sunday-Thursday night......

1) Can I book the reservations for both DVC & AKL through the vacation club? Or should I do through CRO?

2) Will I be able to get the passes for the entire stay through the Vacation Club or will they be done separately since I am staying at 2 different resorts?

3) Are there any discounts for DVC members for the other Disney hotels for my first nights accomodations?

Thanks

1. Member Services would only be able to help you with AKL on points. Cash reservations would have to go through CRO.

2. They would have to be separate. You should be able to drop the first night at the second resort so that you don't have 2 sets of passes for that day.

3. No. Check mousesavers.com for discount codes through CRO. Right now they only have them through the end of the year.

Welcome Home!:D

I am assuming you are going to do a cash reservation at AKL and not a point reservation under the Disney Collection. MS can make such cash reservations but they just go through or connect you to CRO. If you are looking at using codes or other like discounts usually best to call CRO yourself. If you are actually going to use points for AKL, you must go through MS.

If you mean can you buy at AKL the length of stay passes (Ultimate Park Hopper Passes) for which there is a 10% DVC discount, the answer is no. You would have to buy separate LOS's for the AKL stay and then the DVC resort stay and the discount would only apply to the latter. It is much better and cheaper if you are going for a week and staying at 2 different resorts to just buy the 7 day hopper plusses which you should buy in advance from Disney (not MS) as purchase in advance price is now less than purchase at WDW price.

No.

How much are your passes? You may want to consider at least one Annual Passport, which costs around $350, and is good for one year from its first use. This past summer AP holders got a discount on AKL rooms. The standard room was $127, and the poolside was $167 (I think), which means that those rooms were 1/2 price for AP holders. Aside from those reasons, AP holders had a special viewing area at Epcot for Illuminations, and a special lounge on the 3rd floor of the Land. While these benefits change from year to year, they are always good, and getting better every year. New discounts for next year aren't out until November or December (and the AP rates for AKL came out in March last year), but you may want to keep your options open.
