Pass Ports?

ARe you flying in? If so, i believe you might. I know we need them to go to USA by air, but they were lenient for awhile. not sure if that has changed

If you're a U.S. or Canadian citizen, you need a passport to fly from a U.S. airport into Canada or a Canadian airport into the U.S. At the moment, because so many people are trying to get passports and they're backlogged, if you're an American and can prove that you have already applied for a passport, and have other ID, you're okay.

If you're a U.S. or Canadian citizen, you don't need a passport to drive across the Canadian/US border, but the deadline for that is January 2008... they keep changing the date but it's coming.

and for Canadians, rules for getting new ones are easing up a bit in Aug/ Sept (who can be guarantor, etc.) - I had to renew in July, so I had to endure long lines and waits

Get a passport - although some borders may be forgiving, you can never tell. The rule is that you need one if you fly (land and sea will require one in the coming years).

I just re-applied for mine here in Halifax, and it'll be done in 2 wks, so I guess the backlog isn't too bad - but I wouldn't wait.

If you have a passport now, but it will be expired by the time you travel, look at this info on renewing - its so much easier!:

If you or your kids don't have a passport (or its been expired for > 1 year), and can wait until October to get one, look here for new info on how to get one (new guarantor rules, etc):

Hope this helps!:coffee:

Canada does not require passports, as a requirement for entry, for American citizens (either air, land or sea entry). However, the USA requires a passport to enter the USA via air (passports are required for all citizens to enter the USA via air, including Americans).
