Pass holder loopholes?

Need some knowledge, please. Are there any loopholes to getting a less expensive annual pass w/o being a Florida resident or DVC member? I’m military and Shades of Green is so reasonably priced that an annual pass would make sense for us for the first time, but not at $1300. Would it work to buy one dvc point from a reseller? Is that even possible and would that meet the requirement needed to be allowed to purchase an annual pass as a dvc member? Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Unfortunately I don’t think there are any ways to get an annual pass cheaper as an out of state resident, unless you buy DVC direct as @kanerf mentioned. I thought military had access to buy park tickets cheaper than the general public. It takes 4 trips buying 4 day passes to make an annual pass worth it and the math may be even more days if you can get the military discount to break even.

We do get really great deals on tickets in the military but they are limited to 6 (4 or 5 day) park hopper tickets per service member per year. So for our family of 4 that’s pretty much one trip. We are extremely thankful for that one trip! We were really hoping to get down more often, though.

I wish there were. That weekday only pass would be awesome! We could go for three weeks (parks Mon+Tues+Thurs+Fri) for cheaper than two weeks with 10-day passes, and only one extra PTO day

DVC APs are for those who invested in Disney and Florida Resident tickets are for those who have invested in Florida.

DVC: Disney got smart years ago and shut down perks for those who buy via reseller. You would need to buy the minimum direct from them.

FLORIDA RESIDENT: I don't think the savings would be worth it, but you would have to purchase/rent a home in Florida (renters need to supply utility bill or insurance as housing proof).

Buying DVC is not a great option for Military. You often have to plan your trip 11 months out and I was never able to secure leave that far in advance. I was lucky if I could 2 months out and then leave could suddenly be canceled having to cancel any travel plans.

While DVC does have some flexibility in canceling, but often, it would be too late to bank the points or too late to even use them at all. Making it a sunk cost.

An AP would make sense for spontaneous trips that you would do often in a year. You just have to do the math. Don't just look at the cost of admission. Free Parking at the parks, discounts on food and merchandise, any other perks that you would benefit from. Just remember, any of these benefits could go away at anytime. Maybe an AP only makes sense for one person to get the benefits and buy tickets as needed for everyone else. Not everyone has to have free parking or merch discounts.
