Hey need some opinions...please review my Dessert Party plan below and tell me what I have forgotten/overlooked etc....

I am throwing an Cheesecake sampling party for the mom's in our playgroup tonight - I expect 16 attendees.

Drinks
Coffee/Tea (both reg. and decaf) - we have Keurig so Kcups - each can make their own
Hot chocolate
Lemonade
Ice Tea
Milk
Small 8oz. water bottles

2 - large 10" assorted cheesecakes (store bought - previously disclosed in invite that I would not be baking from scratch)
1 smaller ny style cheesecake (plain)
18 cheesecake bites (look sort of like chocolate truffles- assorted flavors)
Angel food cake and
fresh berries (to top plain cheesecake or angel food cake for lighter treat) Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and cherries
mini eclairs
I am making a caramel cheesecake dip for apples and graham crackers

Plus some attendees have said they are bringing sweets to share - reese's marble cheesecake, mini cheesecakes, possibly a pineapple upside down cake (she wasn't 100% sure she'd have time to bake).

I have clear plastic plates, cups, forks, multiple cake servers, 4 small tongs, large serving spoons for fruit, large kitchen knives for cutting cakes....

and I purchased cute to go containers for everyone to take home some treats as the party favor.

I have one no dairy person attending - so I think angel food cake is ok for her - she asked me to save the label so she can check it and she will also bring a dessert to share that she can eat (probably some kind of brownie)

and I am the only diabetic/sugar restriction person attending so I purchased myself a single slice of sugar free cheesecake from the grocery bakery.

I feel better just writing it out...but please if you see any holes in the plan let me know!

I assume this is a given with the coffee, but half-n-half and both regular sugar and a sugar substitute such as Splenda.

I would also include a can (or fresh) whip cream for the coffee and hot chocolate.

Otherwise sounds very yummy!

WOWOW what a party! I don't even like cheesecake and it still sounds fun! It really does sound like you thought of everything. The only thing I can think of to add is a bag of rubberbands for everyone to extend their pants a bit at the end! :rotfl2:

Dizluvah - you are good!

I am inviting you to my next party! Can you please help me plan it?

You really are good! Sounds GREAT to me! :thumbsup2

It does all sound delicious, but it's quite heavy on the cheesecake! You have cheesecake dip, cheesecake bites, and cheesecake. If the person doesn't show up with the brownies, I would want to make sure there were brownies, cookies, lemon bars, orange pound cake...whatever...other kinds of cake or pie...something besides all that cheesecake. However, it does sound like enough food for 16, so wouldn't add too much at this point.

I would probably add a big bowl of mixed salty nuts or pretzels or something to alternate with the sweet stuff. Also, in my group of friends there would be alcohol, lol. A liqueur to put in the coffee or hot chocolate, or some wine. Of course, if that's not your thing, no worries. :goodvibes

I agree. I feel like I'm becoming diabetic reading your email. But I don't like cheesecake anyway. Something savory is a great idea (figs & prosciutto? herbed shortbread? gruyere thumbprints?) so people don't go into sugar shock.

Yep, the above were my first thoughts too.

I would be able to take maybe a couple of bites of that heavy, rich, cheesecake, and then be just DONE.

You need some lighter fare.

Not just something savory/salty....
But some way lighter fare.

It's a cheesecake sampling party, per the first post, so I would expect that everyone would expect there to be various kinds of cheesecake.

I might put out a bowl of fruit salad (in case someone doesn't want to have any kind of super sweet desert) and couple of bowls of nuts, but other than that, it sounds great!

What time should I be there? ;)

That's what I was thinking too... it's a cheesecake party so I'd just expect lots of cheesecake. I was thinking palate cleanser as well but wasn't sure what cleanses a palate of cheesecake. I'd pick something SUPER easy tho like pretzels and/or nuts... just something so that when yuo change flavors you can really taste the new one!

No wine? Might be regional, but I don't think I've ever been invited to any kind of evening party without wine (I know it's a Monday, but as a SAHM, the day of the week makes no difference to me).

Absolutely half and half - I can't drink my coffee without it. I agree with a bowl of pistachios, or salty nut to balance the sweet. And wine as well, that would be such a treat of a Monday night for me!

OMG that made me laugh so hard my coffee almost came out of my nose! :goodvibes

Yes, at a Cheesecake sampling party people will probably expect lots of cheesecake! :lmao: :rotfl2:

Edited to add that I'm mainly laughing at myself; when I re-read my post I had definitely worded it poorly so it sounded like I was saying there was too much cheesecake at a cheesecake party. Obviously that was not what I meant, lol!

Thanks all for the advice/replies. Party starts at 7:45 pm tonight so if you can get to NH by then; you are more than welcome! I love the idea of the adult coffees - maybe irish, spanish, etc - I do have a can of spray whip cream and yes I forgot to mention the splenda/sugar/ half and half - got that.

I like the salty nuts/pretzels idea - I only have almonds and pretzel sticks in the house - I'll give hubby a mission on the way home from work for some salted nuts.

Love the dis...I can seriously come for for any kind of advice/information - someone always knows! Cheers:flower3:

By the way, to the OP: good for you for thinking of getting the "cute to-go containers" seems that's something I always forget ahead of time! :thumbsup2

One of the best dessert parties I have attended did have the coffee bar. There was the usual, plus things liked shaved chocolate and The various liqueurs like Baileys.

This is a GREAT idea! Thank you! I'm checking my liquor cabinet now :goodvibes

I know, hilarious, right? :goodvibes I was cracking up when I realized what I had written. :lmao:

What I meant to say was that with a menu so full of "heavy" cheesecake--and since the OP asked about "holes" I would add <<blah blah blah>>. Instead I just sounded totally stupid, lol.

"So I went to this cheesecake sampling party, and they had a ton of cheesecake. It was so weird!" :rotfl2:

:lmao: This just struck me as funny. :lmao:

Right, but presumably the point of the party is to be social, hang out, get to know each other, not just eat cheesecake. So serve something besides cheesecake/sweet things, to cater to guests who don't have much of a sweet tooth, are watching their weight, whatever.

Can I please have some Chocolate Syrup to drizzle over the strawberries on my slice? :thumbsup2
