HI

I am trying to book my ADR's. I know I am booking my ADR's too late for our May trip but our group if okay w/ eating early or late. Everywhere I try, they want to split our group into 2 tables (and of course we are not guaranteed to be next to each other). The woman I just spoke w/ told me they will add gratuity to our check since we are a party of 9. If we are not sitting near each other, how is our waitor going to keep us on 1 bill? I am confused.

So far, I reserved Ohana and Coral Reef. They are both for 9:00, 2 tables. I am going to keep trying for Le Celleir. Can you please suggest more places that will accomodate a party of 9 (8 adults, 1 baby). Time is not an issue but we do prefer dinner over lunch. Once again, I know I am late but I am very persistent:)

So last May, I had a party of twelve. Seven adults, five kids under the age of 6. It was a blast!

Anyway, we also ran into the same problem. O'hana was the one place we were sure we'd sit together, so I'm kind of surprised that they are telling you that you won't. They do that family style seating, so it was twelve of us PLUS another family. I wouldn't worry about that one.

Anyway, we had an ADR at CRT, and they told us the same thing... couldn't guarantee that we'd be together. However, when we arrived, we were seated at two tables just next to each other that actually shared a bench. So they really did get us close together.

Coral Reef does have some really large booths at the back that could probably accomodate you... we've sat there before. Of course, that was six adults and one toddler... so maybe I'm wrong about how big they are.

Le Cellier might be even harder because it's so small... but at an off time you might be able to get it. However, I just made an ADR for le Cellier in mid-May and couldn't get anything but lunch.

So I would make ressies where you want and then be patient at the podium. I really think in most cases they would be able to get you fairly close together. And worst case scenario... you could always break your ressie into two at the podium if they can't accomodate you close together to avoid the auto-tip. I don't think a manager would begrudge you that.

Most of this is to do with the ADR's not the tables. As you reserve a time slot not a table so she is right really. In almost all resturants they will be able to push 2 tables together its just the ADR system will only allow a certain number of each size table to appear at any time based on the standard configaration of the resturant. For example I think the Rose & Crown only had 2 6 top reservations available at any one time so if these were booked you would book a 2 top and a 4 top instead. There are probably 1 or 2 resturants where you wouldn't have the option of moving 2 tables together but they will sit you on tables next to each other with the same waiter and serve you as one table which is why the tip is included. When you check in you check in as one party and say you are down as 2 reservations and itll be fine.

Don't worry about it. Your tables are linked in the system. They have to tell you that it's not guaranteed just in case there is some unforeseen circumstance that comes up and you can't be seated together. I've had a party of 11 at Cape May which only has two 6 top tables and we were all together. I had a party of twelve in LeCellier (three 4 top tables) and we were all together.

If for some reason you are not seated together (that's a very slim chance), you wouldn't be charged the automatic gratuity. Because then you would no longer be a party of nine.

Really, don't worry. I did a party of 11 and darn it they kept placing those darn kids with us. Funny but true.

6 adults and 5 kid's that were excited to sit at one table by themselves and only Le Cellier sat us at two different tables but right next to us.:)
