When me and my fam visit the World, it is just the 4 of us. This year how ever we will have another fam of 4 with us. making our reservations before was not a prob, will we encounter any problems this year with a party of 8 finding reservations ? If so do any of you have any tips and or tricks?

Thank you...http://www.wdwinfo.com/images/smilies/thumbsup2.gif

Be prepared to split into two tables. Our group of 7 has been advised we will be split in a few places but they will try to seat us at neighboring tables.

I was told when I made our ADRs that you can ask for a specific split to make it easier on the group and they will try to accommodate it at the restaurant : 2 & 6 or 4 & 4. Also, I believe there is a number you can call that assists with dining reservations for large groups... I saw it posted on a nother thread yesterday but can't find it now. Maybe calling dining and asking would help?

When we went in Aprill 2011 we had a party of 8 and had no problems getting in anywhere we wanted. Plus we were always seated together even though the reservation said we may be seated separately. Now we did make the reservations exactly at the 180 day mark. A buddy of mine tried to make his ressy's at about 4 month mark for 8 and had a terrible time getting in. Also you should read the tipping thread about parties of 6 or more.

Since it is two separate families, figure out the details now! Do you want to have every meal together? What are the must dos for each family? etc.... Once these questions are answered, create a plan of what park you are going to on what day and what restaurants you want to go to. This way on the 180 day mark you will be able to get the ADRs that you want. The best tip you can get is to plan everything out ahead of time and MAKE YOUR ADRs ON THE 180 DAY MARK!! Enjoy your vacation! :)

We've done many vacations as a party of 8 and the only place, ever, we have not been seated together is Sci Fi, where the cars are made to seat 6.

We made a few reservations and we all able to sit together for a party of 10-12 at Marakkesh, 'Ohana, and Coral Reef. We had reservations at Le Cellier but skipped it. Not sure if they would have split us or not. We did have to split at Sci Fi.

This is the best advice anyone could give:thumbsup2

You may not want to eat every single meal together- there really is such a thing as too much togetherness. It is OK to split up for a few meals if one family really wants to eat at a particular place, but the other family wants something different. Having said that: Make sure everyone is in agreement about the restaurants before you make your ADRs. So much easier to do it all once, and not have to go back repeatedly to make changes.

One last note about large parties: there is a separate dining number for large groups, but yours isn't nearly large enough to qualify. There is a standard disclaimer on most of the reservations noting that large parties may be broken into separate groups. This is kind of a CYA blanket statement. The vast majority of the time the restaurants will work hard to accommodate your party. As a couple of PPs have stated, Sci Fi is an exception because of the size of the 'cars'.

Ditto.

You may have to wait a bit longer to be seated together, but we've never waited more than 10 minutes or so.

As others have said, try to make your reservations as early as possible as it does get more difficult for large parties as you get closer to the trip date.

Thank you all very much, this was a great help. I knew i could count on u guys...
