Party of 6 in Deluxe Studio Poly - w/one being a 3 year old?

Neither will be comfortable. Poly rooms are spacious for hotel rooms. W/ the studios they reduced sleeping space to add in the extra non bathroom. I assume you’ll be packing light & collapsing the stroller(s) in order to fit your gear into the room/studio - but it’ll be tight in either.
I see from your prior posts that you’ll have grandparents in a second room - so maybe that can help w/ storage. In that scenario I’d request connecting studios - the grandparents studio will have more space w/ only 1 bed in use & w/ studios you’ll get balconies, not all the regular Poly hotel rooms have balconies, btw.

I would definitely go with the Villa over the standard room-we love the new Murphy beds that can go up quickly and easily when the kids wake up and as mentioned above- request connecting rooms that will give you more space and allow you to put the kids to bed and hang out in the other room with your parents, if you want to relax in the evening. We often rent two studios for our family of 8 and sometimes 9. It works for us and we have a wonderful time. The other benefit of going with the villas is that they all have patios or balconies (unlike the 2nd floor on the standard room side). That patio/balcony is nice to have. I do agree that storage can be an issue, there is no where to really unpack except in the closet for hanging items- so just keep that in mind when packing. However the beds have areas for suitcases underneath- we can fit 3 medium sized suitcases under the bed and one small one in the closet. Good luck and have fun!

Sounds like the PP knows they are in for a tight squeeze and are down with that. We've done 5 in a room with bedding for 4--Pro tip, put the pillows along the SIDE of the bead instead of the head of the bed, and remake the sheets accordingly. Easier to fit three little kids across the bed when they are sideways because that is longer edge of the bed.

I was friends with a DIS member pre-covid who stretched their points to legit stay in a Poly studio with twins who were under 2. So 2 adults, +2 kids who were elementary school age, +2 cribs for the toddlers. She sent me a picture, it didn't look fun, but then again, it wasn't my points and I don't have twins. They were able to keep the murphy twin closed and fit 2 cribs at the foot of the other two beds, I have also heard of families putting one crib in one of the big bathrooms. They did it, they enjoyed it.

OP: as far as I know, there is no difference in size of room between preferred and standard.

There's room for the big metal post-Covid crib in the second bathroom in the DVC rooms. I asked for it and took off the mattress. My kid picked it over the murphy a few nights. You could pull off the mattress for say a three or four even five year old, and put the crib in the hall or in grandma's room.

Poly is great, Disney is magical, and you will have a great time. So special to have grandparents going as well!

That being said, I really would consider 3 rooms at a moderate over 2 rooms at Poly. I know I would choose that without question if I had the same travel party as you. As magical is Disney is, it can also be hot, tiring, crowded, and over stimulating. It can be really welcome to head back to the room to rest, have some space, a good night sleep, etc., and I think that could be tough with 6 people in a studio.

Although, Port Orleans is bus access only (other than boat to Disney Springs), I think it is a beautiful and relaxing resort. Honestly I may even prefer it to some deluxes. Plus it is fairly centrally located, so even though you aren’t right at any one park, none of them feel that far away. I also have had generally good luck with the buses there.

Good luck with your decision and have a wonderful trip!

I know this is an old thread, but wanting to gather more people's thoughts on this situation. We will have 2 adults, 4 children with one child just under 3 years old, so technically, we can do one room. Would you suggest Poly Deluxe Studio or a Standard Room?
Ooph! That's way too crowded and I would not suggest either option for a family of 6 even if the youngest is under 3. You really won't have room to move considering the space taken up by luggage for that many people, stroller, pack n play plus the pull-down beds being opened. You might be better off with a condo off Disney property and driving to the parks each day.

Assuming you put the stroller in the logical location by the door, the Pack N Play in the second bathroom, the space left for luggage is minimal. Under the bed, the storage ottoman, the small shelf under the TV, and I guess the rest of the big bathroom. The big bathroom is big enough, its big enough for wheelchair access actually, but then your luggage is in the bathroom. You have the problem of no real dresser or drawers or organization for any of your stuff.

You could make this work, especially if your kids are used to sleeping in tight quarters. If you're park warriors anyway, this sounds fine to me.

You may have done so already, but I would suggest watching videos of room tours. Then you can see the room setups of what you are looking to book and to get an idea of where you would place people and things. It might help you decide what might work better.
