Well...we survived the party of 14! I was the planner, organizer, etc. of this group which consisted of my DH's family. I tell you, we could not make a move unless the entire group moved.. :rotfl: It was not my typical WDW vacation. My inlaws are a group of drinkers. They would prefer to stay at the resort, pull the chairs out of the rooms and drink beer as they enjoyed the view of Sassagoula River. I am so glad that we were in building 1, top floor, away from everyone. I apologize to anyone if you were near us. I fear we may have run off one of our neighbors.

The weather was really nice after the rain showers each day. There were crowds, but I expected that. Didn't really get to do much, but felt like I ran the entire time. I guess because I was the leader, I felt I had to be up early, and available always...no sneaking into the room for a nap ;) especially since we had connecting rooms w/ BIL's family and we always had company.

I still love this resort. We had a beautiful water view..we even got to see some of the renters of boats crashing into the walls. Yes, we were watching you :teeth:

The only downer to the whole vacation was transportation. This is the worst I have ever seen it.

Any questions?

What about the bus transportation was bad ? I thought POFQ was first on & first off ? That's why we were considering POFQ for our next trip. How was the courtyard ? The food selection ? Thanks ! :flower:

I'll try this again...sorry lost what I posted!

The problem with the first on first off is that when you go to be first on...you have to remember that POR guests that are being dropped off stay on the bus and when you have a group as we did, sometimes not many came off at our stop. On Sunday we were headed to MGM for Fantasmic and EMH...we get to the bus stop at 7 p.m. and a bus does not come until 8 p.m. We decide we will just attend the 10:30 showing...it starts to downpour around 9:30...then they cancel the fantasmic...and it just turned out to be a mess in MGM for EMH...so we decide at 11 to head to the bus...well, so did EVERYONE else :rotfl: I have never see the lines as long as I did that night...it took 6 buses before we could get on one...and the lines were this way for every resort.

Then one day we were headed to Downtown Disney. We found out that FQ is the last stop for this bus because they are picking up guests that eat at POR and need to get back to FQ. We finally got on the 3rd bus this one afternoon only because the driver was unloading a wheelchair. He said we could get on but to remember he had to make the stops at POR and then come back to FQ...we got on.

We really did spend a lot of time waiting on buses...but it became sort of a joke to everyone when the day after MGM we are waiting on a bus and we see 3 MGM buses before the one we are waiting on. I'm not bashing the transportation at all...it just seemed like whichever one we wanted..that was the one that took forever to get there.

I still love FQ. The food is the same as any of the other food courts. The CM's were all very friendly. I did get tired of fries. Fries seem to come with everything. I will definitely go back.

We were there the end of May and never had a problem with the bus system. The crowds were probably alot less though. We had a downpour 1 night at MK and had to wait a long time for a bus, not nearly as long as the Riverside line, however, everyone was leaving at the same time because of the rain, which isn't the norm for the busses and every line to every resort was long, and I guess to be expected. Downtown Disney however I learned you need to take the boat there and back - it is much quicker. It took me over an hour to get back from there with all of the extra stops.

knovak,

We're going to POFQ in December which is a lower attendance time so I would think we could expect an experience more like yours. So my question is once you get on the bus about how long does it take to complete the 4 stops at POR?

Thanks,
Jeff

We are going in September.

How does the bus system work exactly?

You wait in line at the resort and then the bus that comes by will say MK, AK, or whatever?

What if you want to go to the Contemporary? How do you get there?

Also, where do you wait in lines when you are leaving these places? Are there signs somewhere where you stand in line and wait at the exits?

Sorry, I just haven't been there for soooooo long, just wondering how it all works! Thanks.

The stops at POR would range about 10 minutes or so, depending on how many are getting off and on.

Nank...you stand at a designated bus area and there are 2 platforms at POFQ (so read the overhead signs...one platform is for MGM and Magic Kingdom...the other is for the rest of the parks). Buses then come to each bus stop and have a marque to let you know where they are headed. If you want to get to the Contemporary, you catch a bus to Magic Kingdom, then either walk over or take the monorail to Contemporary...we did have wonderful service the one morning we were headed to Chef Mickey's for breakfast. The driver asked if anyone on the bus was headed there for breakfast and he dropped us off there.
