what have you seen recently at weddings and bar/bat mitzvahs? what did you think?

Cha--ching! The cash register rolls over once again.

Since we're talking about teenagers, I don't know if you can get your DD's picture on a bottle of soda. Most of the weddings that I've gone to that have had favors had a bottle of wine with the bride and groom's picture or names and date on them. The only other favors I've been given that were very nice was a lovely letter opener, a very nice pie server, and silver plated salad forks. Somehow, I just don't see kids liking any of these things, though.

Can't your cousin come up with a list from which you can pick?

DS went to one that had a caricaturist do drawings of each child. He used their interests to make it personalized. DS was playing basketball with M jordan. The drawings were excellent.

my cousin showed me some steins and mugs, and also chocolates. one item she had was a a chocolate shaped like a CD in a plastic case. what was really great was that a photo of the bat mitzvah girl was in the center of the chocolate. I've seen photos painted onto cakes, but this was wonderful.

My friend recently got married and I thought her favors were a great idea. She made CDs with all love songs on them. The first few songs were her wedding song, her & her fathers dance song, and the groom & his mothers song. Then they just picked out other songs that they liked. There were all different styles of music and it was from different eras, but all love songs.
I dont how you could incorporate this into your DD's party, but it was a cute idea I thought.

I did molded chocolates for my wedding in Oct. Big claddaghs, then shamrocks, fleur-di-lys, and Disney characters. They weren't too fancy and were easy to do. Took me three days to make enough for more than 125 boxes.

At both of our older two children's bar and bat mitzvah, we had a caricaturist do drawings of the guests. It was very popular but the guy could not get to eeryone before the night was over. We had those glow necklaces that were very popular during the dance. My wife also found some candy filled tubes that were very cute that we gave at my daughters party.

Another item that I have seen are inflatable rock bank guitars and other instruments. My kids have brough these home from a couple of parties.
