Party Every Day - Updated 8/29/10

Oh how I hated that Contemp spot! :sad1: Their rudeness greatly affected my mood and depressed me!

I do adore the turtle and ostrich photos, though! :cat: :fish: :snail: Also, Liz is never forced onto the Dino ride. She insists on coming on her own volition! pirate:

It was a very rude spot!

:rotfl: Wonderful use of emoticons! That is true about Liz - she does secretly love those dinos.

What a SCARY day! Dinos:scared1:, ostriches:scared1:, potential poisonings for the peanut sensitive crowd:scared1:!

The AK really did a dis-service to changing Tusker house into a character meal! Shame shame!

Sounds like you all had an exciting afternoon. Enjoying some Sonny :happytv: and a little synchronized swimming with the geriatric set. I wonder if they would have joined in a little dance party :dance3:

Glad to see you back around these parts, Neve! It was a scary day, indeed, for the scaredy-cat crowd. :scared1:

I think we would have been kicked right out of the quiet pool had we tried to initiate a dance party!

Liz here to contest that while I do subject myself to the Dinosaur ride and the land, it must be simply my desire to not be abandoned in the scariest land I've seen! :scared1::scared1::scared1: Plus, I quite like the jostling!

I must say that I am looking quite terrible in these photos! What the heat in WDW does to me!

My elephant tee looked divine though! :jumping1:

:rotfl:Love that a photo of me and my program (GH) made it into the TR. If only it had been John Zacchara on the screen! But, I guess I'll take Sam and Jason over the fat Cassadine anyday!

:rolleyes1 I must say that I cannot read this TR without thinking of my beloved friend Beauford. I'll be singing his tune all night long. Or at the very least enjoying a little :dance3: How I miss those country rhythms!

You looked grand! :cool2: How could you not have in that great elephant tee that you'd been hunting down for years to get at the approp price?! :confused3

You are right about that GH shot - a screen cap of Johnny Zacchara and Zenon (as added bonus) would have been most fitting for you. I'll try better to catch you watching one of your fav scenes the next time I'm photographing your television watching.

Momma, don't whup little Beuford; Momma, don't pound on his head... :rolleyes1

Another great update :thumbsup2

Lovely photos of the Maharajah Jungle Trek and Rafiki's Planet looks like lots of fun, another 'must do' to add to the list :goodvibes

Liz I am with you on the Dinosaur Ride, whilst pretty cool, it is kinda scary.

Sorry lunch at the Contempo wasn't up to scratch, but those green beans look yumma.

Looking forward to your next installment :)

Thanks, I love taking pics in the AK, and the Maharajah Trek is one of my fav places to do it - maybe because it's pretty well shaded and not so hot as the rest of the park!

My salad at the Contempo Cafe tasted pretty good - I think it's a great CS option if you don't have someone with food allergies.

I spent one of my days off this week grading poorly written assignments (middle school kids!) and reading your TR! It definitely entertained me because you guys have such a comical writing style! Plus, you punctuate your sentences properly :thumbsup2

Looking forward to more!

Caught up and subbing!

Glad to have you on board! :thumbsup2

:rotfl:Why, thank you! As two English majors and frequent tutors of our younger cousins who sound like the students in your class, we are delighted to bring some good, properly punctuated writing to your life! Thanks for reading! :goodvibes

And, we're back! Currently packing and preparing for our next trip, which is now just 7 days away :woohoo:! What better way to anticipate our next trip than reminiscing about the last one?

Traveling via the pathway to the TTC, we were able to catch a monorail and arrive at Epcot without much trouble. Our first order of business when we arrived was stopping at guest services to pick up some buttons – after all, we had to let the world know that on this day, we were celebrating Nick Jonas’s birthday! :bday:

Properly adorned, we made our way back to the World Showcase, and in to Italy.

We had ADRs at Tutto Italia, and were excited to try it after reading many good reviews. Before we entered the restaurant, I suggested we might want to remove our tiaras. Liz said we shouldn’t because we wouldn’t get any attention, but I explained that we were three females entering a restaurant where there would invariably be Italian male servers – of this I was sure, we would not be ignored. And I was right! Italian guys (actually from Italy) flirt so mercilessly and are so persistent that it’s hilarious. It can be overwhelming in Italy, on the street, say, but when they’re your servers, bus boys, and restaurant managers in Epcot, it’s all good! Our server was Marco, and he was, of course, beautiful, charming, and at our table every three seconds. Awesome. Really. I’d never been to Tutto Italia or any other incarnations of this restaurant, and I thought it was really nice inside. It was also empty (at about 5:30 pm). Marco was at our table a few seconds after we arrived and brought us menus. He came back around 45 seconds later to ask if we had any questions or needed help. We told him we’d need a few more minutes, so in around 30 seconds, he was back to chat and see if we were ready. :rotfl: We chatted a bit and then I asked him what he recommended since I wasn’t sure what I wanted. I believe he suggested a veal dish, since veal is really the only thing that I won’t eat, so I had to let him down and decline his suggestion. Laura asked for something with a few substitutions because of the vegetarianism and the nut allergy, but Marco said he could not ask for any substitutions because the chef is big and scary, and he is afraid to do that. His explanation was really funny, and Laura was also interested in the penne caprese, which was fine for her to eat, so she just went with that.

After we’d ordered our dinner, Marco was back in a flash with a bread basket and some cold antipasto.

1686.jpg

I ate a piece of bread, and just as we were about to dig into the olives and other small items on our table, Marco was back with our meals! Okay, no wonder why Marco could not ask for substitutions for Laura – everything must be pre-prepared in the back. Even if that is the case, it was fine – everything was hot and cooked just right when it was brought out to us.

Here is Laura’s penne caprese:

I had lasagna, which was huge – Marco told me I wouldn’t be able to finish it, but as you may have guessed by now, I did. ;) I thought it was excellent, too. The gravy was great. It had a little bit of meat in it, and the lasagna had a few nice cheese flavors going on. It wasn’t the most adventurous choice, but I was in the mood for pasta, cheese, and tomato sauce, so it was perfect!
1688.jpg

Liz got cannelloni, which was cheeeeesy! It was really good, but just be prepared for a cheese overload with this dish.
1690.jpg

For dessert, we asked if there were any nut-free options for Laura. Marco was horrified that we had not mentioned the nut allergy when ordering the entrees, but we assured him that all was well and Laura had enjoyed her dinner without suffering anaphalaxis. The manager, who was of course also very friendly, came over and offered Laura berries with fresh whipped cream. Perfect, since she had been eyeing the berries and cream option on the menu.
1693.jpg

I got tiramisu, which was okay – nothing thrilling. If I didn’t get dessert as part of the meal plan, I wouldn’t bother ordering this.
1692.jpg

Liz got a layered chocolate cake, which I liked better than my tiramisu, but also was nothing to rave about.

Overall, we really enjoyed our meal at Tutto, and will absolutely be returning! The food was delicious, the service very attentive (and fun!), and we liked how quick the service was. We’ve certainly eaten better Italian food, but as far as Disney restaurants go, this is definitely one we’ll be returning to and recommending to others.

After our successful trip to Italy, we ventured over to Germany, where Laura bought a nice giant pretzel to go and we bought a pickle Christmas tree ornament because we thought it was pretty funny.

We then headed on out of the showcase and stopped to pay our respects to our great friends, the boys of Nsync, on the photo wall. :thumbsup2

We monorailed it home to the Poly (really to the TTC and then took a quick walk to our room), and were soon back in our room. We hadn’t been sure of what to do this night – whether we should stay and watch Illuminations or go over to the MK for Wishes after our dinner, but earlier in the day we had seen a commercial indicating that the Wizards film would be airing on the Disney channel that night. That sealed our fate immediately. :rotfl: It was decided that we would stay in to take in our film.

1723.jpg

Once we returned to the Poly, we got ourselves settled for a viewing of the Wizards film (Laura’s seventh viewing at that point). I skipped out on the beginning of the film to catch Wishes from the main Poly beach. This was one of my fav Wishes viewings! It was not crowded at all, the music was piped in, and the fireworks were lined up nicely over the castle. Highly recommended!

Following Wishes, I went into Captain Cook’s to find some dessert for Liz and myself. We were so used to the DDP at this point that we couldn’t forgo a second dessert for the night! I picked us up some brownies and headed back to the room to enjoy the rest of Wizards.

After dining on our desserts and finishing our film, we went to sleep. It was a gloriously early and restful night, and we loved it!

Great update :thumbsup2

Sounds like a fun and eventful meal at Tutto. Can't go wrong with Italian ;)

I love the story behind the Christmas Pickle, is rather cute :cutie: Its nice to learn about different countries traditions.

Sounds like you had a good evening too, with yummy dessert and Wizards. Perfect end to a perfect day :goodvibes

Mmmmm, it's a good thing I'm making fried ravioli for dinner tonight because those Italian food pics look delish!

LOVE the pretzel from Somerfest. So much better than the pretzels from your standard kart!

Fabulous! I'd been eagerly awaiting your next update. It's my first time posting to your TRs, but I've been reading them and have been wholly amused. I'm a friend of ScottMc (part of the Mad BLT Party this Aug.) and through his dis postings, I came across your TRs. Excellent work. :thumbsup2 Can't wait to hear about the upcoming trip too...have fun! :yay:
Oh, and where can I find the 'NSYNC pics? How I loved JC back in the day...

Yup, lots of good food that night - and Laura said the pretzel was indeed far better than a standard WDW one! :thumbsup2

So glad to have you reading and commenting! :goodvibes Can't wait to hear more about the planning for your upcoming trip - sounds like it will be great!

We've spent about 3 hours on a few different trips trying to find the Nsync pics before commiting their location to memory :rotfl:. Which is nuts, since they are located on the first wall to the right when you walk in through the entrance - in section F. Hope you find them!

I also forgot to add :woohoo: single digit dance for you guys

Yup, it's crazy! :woohoo: This trip seems to have come up so fast (mind you, I didn't book it very long ago, but still)!

Hours for next September are also up on the US Disney site today - it looks like MNSSHP will be on Wednesday and Friday the week we're going, but Tuesday (as it usually is) and Friday for all other weeks. So much for my starting to think up ADRs and park plans based on what the schedule has usually been!

Thanks for the info! I'll be sure to look for them and get a pic of JC, for old times' sake. I think that's what he'd want.
