Party Every Day - Updated 8/29/10

I thought the front desk encounter was unacceptable from the moment you said "we had to go back to get leis" I wasn't having it lol.

I don't think I read the outcome on twitter (or don't remember) but i'm definitely around for this one, I was so angry reading your encounter! It's the little things that bother me about Disney check ins (no leis, no buttons if you are celebrating an anniversary etc) and what you pay for the Poly you should not expect a hard time when you call and say there's a bug/toothpick/stain in the room!! Heck, I stayed at POFQ and when we walked in the room looked in the middle of cleaning (bed not made, towels everywhere) and they were beyond thrilled to move us and make sure we were okay with the move!

Okay that was longer than I expected lol. Onwards! Can't wait for more! PS: Wizards rocks, my 18 year old brother (read EIGHTEEN YEAR OLD MALE) loves the disney channel especially wizards!

:rotfl: Your brother's love of Wizards has delighted me so much! I love it. :thumbsup2

oooohhh i'm in.
or should i say eeewwww i'm in. he he

 Thank you for reading!

Bugs in the begining, :woohoo: SWEET!!! I work in the pest control industry, and also look around every hotel room I stay in. An average 2500 sq ft home is ranging from $1200 to $2000 to treat for bed bugs today (and the treatment is a nightmare). Keep those little critters away from my home!!!!!!

I can stand quite a bit, but all the garbage  still in the room would mean a new room at minimum or even an upgrade after I was done ripping the manager a new one.

Can't wait to hear the rest of the trip, I'm sure it got better.

On top of being disgusting, hearing that price alone is enough to make a bed bug hotel room check well worth it! :scared1: And, we certainly agree about the garbage - the front desk for some reason really did not understand when we called that trash in the room was unacceptable. :confused3

Thanks for reading!

This part was written by Laura, and the pics were taken, chosen for inclusion, and inserted by Jen. Liz is MIA.

We headed back to the front desk, where we encountered a CM who was making terribly distasteful jokes about spiders with us. Luckily we were also provided with a new room in a different building, Tahiti. Our new room, fortunately, was also ready, and when we walked in, we were immediately greeted with the welcoming scent of bleach. We were thrilled to smell such a clean scent! We immediately checked out the iPod dock, which was of course completely broken in our original room, and were ecstatic when the Peas came blaring out of Liz’s iPod to fill our room with joy. The bathroom also featured a big counter with two sinks, which was a huge relief!

Here are some pics of us celebrating our new clean room with, what else? A dance party! Luckily our room was huge and there was tons of room to dance!

And here are some pics of our room, in case you’re interested in a Tahitian vacation.

Tweeting the good news!

Christening the new patio with a Coppertone spray-down and a self portrait:

:dancer: After dancing to the Peas and “Party in the USA,” we decided to head over to the MK. I had yet to eat anything that day and was in desperate need of glucose. We walked over to the TTC, which was conveniently located right next to our building, and we decided to ride the ferry over to the MK. :boat:

We were disappointed when the Admiral Joe retrieved us, rather than our number one ship, the General Joe. :sad1: We’ve written a theme song for whenever we find ourselves riding the General Joe (“let’s go General Joe, let’s go!” to the tune of “G.N.O.” by Miley Cyrus), so we had to adapt our song accordingly and replace the General with the Admiral. It was a pretty stressful experience! Luckily the Admiral delivered us to the MK with the same tradition of excellence for which the General Joe is so famous. :lovestruc

When we arrived at the MK, Jen was leisurely strolling and taking photos when I simply had to take charge and declare that I was on a mission for food and would wait no longer.

Lucky for you, she managed to snap a few pics, which we will share with you right here.

The train station looked great with all of its pumpkiny décor!

Crowded! Yuck. :crowded:

We then walked with a purpose to the frontier, where I had some sort of vegetable item at the Golden Oak Outpost.

It was quite good, but the highlight had to be my very first encounter with WDW apple slices. I was so pleased that they now feature HSM!

My meals are always better when Troy Bolton is involved. :cloud9: :lovestruc Unfortunately, Liz said the cookie that came with was absolutely horrid. We sat outside of Peco’s Bill and were able to enjoy the afternoon parade at the same time.

Once I finished eating and we caught up with our tweeting, we walked through Frontierland and Liberty Square before heading into Fantasyland.

Here are some pics from our journey:

All of the rides had unacceptable lines, so we took the opportunity to reenact a classic moment in television history: Kimmy Gibbler’s ride on Dumbo.

We decided that we couldn’t wait another moment to see the newly reopened TTA, so we decide to walk over to Tomorrowland. On our way, we spotted one of our idols, the White Rabbit! We got in line and had the pleasure of meeting the White Rabbit, but unfortunately his character minder was MIA and there was no one to take our pic. I snapped one of Liz and Jen, but the White Rabbit would stand for nothing less than a full group photo.

He jumped up and down maniacally (:yay:) until he caught the attention of another guest in line, who kindly took a picture for us.

After our meet and greet, we made a beeline for the only ride suitable for the honor of being our first ride: the TTA, of course.

The highlight of our grand circle tour of Tomorrowland was most certainly our trip through Mickey’s Star Traders. Waving at others and receiving a wave in return is one of our greatest pleasures in life, and as we looked down into that wonderful shop, we waved to a group of guys who responded by jumping up and down and waving wildly. (:yay: + :wave2:) It was the best and made our day! Other than that, the TTA was perfection, as always. :cloud9:

We got a glimpse into space:

And a long look at the tearing down of the old Tomorrowland skyway building (which include some of Jen’s fav potties – shame!):

After enjoying that brilliant ride, we took a spin with Buzz. It hurt my thumb worse than ever.

Then, we just could not wait a moment longer to reunite with one of our all time heroes, John. :worship:

We walked over to the Carousel of Progress and sat down in our favorite rumpus room with a nice, cold sasparilla. As per usual, we were lucky enough to get stuck inside and watch a scene repeatedly. Fortunately, it was the 1940s scene this year and we watched only three times. We were once stuck in the Christmas scene, our least loved scene, for about five showings.

Eventually, we broke free from the CoP and needed to dance out the restlessness we had built up during that 40 minute long ordeal, so we headed toward Main Street before deciding the Jamboree was just what we needed. :woohoo:

Detour near the castle for some pics (Jen’s crooked crown looks divine):

At this point, it was 4:52 pm according to our twitter, and we still had a whole lot of time to kill until our 8:00 pm ADR at Tony’s. We also intended to see the 9:00 Spectro, but were already feeling extremely tired. We figured our favorite bears would be the perfect treat while we waited the long three hours until our ADR.

As we crossed into Liberty Square, we had the most delightful encounter! Our first albatross of the trip!

He nearly collided with Liz, which was brilliant, as she has a bird phobia. For the record, we have no knowledge of bird nomenclature, so we call any large, white bird an albatross. The albatri all over the Frontier and Liberty Square never fail to delight us! :worship:

Luckily, Liz managed to evade the albatross and we arrived soon after at the Jamboree (but not before passing an albatri convention).

We had been waiting to hear this real old country rhythm all year! We sing the songs from this performance constantly, particularly our number one song, “Mama Don’t Whoop Little Beuford.” :music: Throughout the show, we clapped our hands and stomped our feet and tried to keep right with them! It was a great time, and we loved it.

Afterward, we went to another favorite attraction, Pirates! We hadn’t ridden earlier, when we were sitting at Peco’s Bill, because the wait time was an absolutely absurd 20 minutes. When we returned this time, though, the wait was a much more manageable 0 minutes. We had a grand old time hoisting the colors high! pirate:

At this point, it was slightly later than 5:30, and we decided we were much too tired to stay at the MK until 9 or 10. We walked back over to Main Street in hopes of getting into Tony’s earlier, but before we could get there, we encountered the unexpected sight of a rocking dance party! party: We were greeted with the sounds of Metro Station and the sights of Donald, Mickey, and co. dancing crazily in the streets with a few CMS and an entourage. We joined in immediately and particularly loved shaking our tail feathers with Donald.

At around 5:50, we walked over to Tony’s, where they told us we could check in early and they might be able to get us in within about 20 minutes. For some reason, we felt this was too long a wait and declined, opting to keep our original ADR and attempt to call Disney Dining to get a new ADR. Jen called and couldn’t get an earlier ADR at Tony’s. Unfortunately, all MK area restaurants were completely booked. We weren’t sure what to do, but we now completely exhausted and were certain we couldn’t wait until 8. My eye was also malfunctioning and I was in desperate need of putting on my glasses, which were at the Poly. Jen then suggested that we should have just waited the 20 minutes as it probably already has been 20 minutes, so we went back into Tony’s and decided to check in early. We were delighted when the CM checking us in told us it would probably be within 15-20 minutes.

We decided this would be fine, considering we could play in that great photo building attached to Tony’s. We love that spot and could easily spend 20 minutes there. We were even more fortuitous because Farmer Goofy was in there completely alone and without a line in sight. We went over to get a pic with this very oddly dressed character and soon found ourselves involved in the craziest photoshoot. Goofy kept running behind these red curtains to hide and then jumping out. :tiptoe: He also tried to pose as princesses for a while, which seemed pretty reasonable, but then his minders started going positively insane. They kept calling out bizarre poses for all of us, including Goofy, to do, while they snapped and snapped photos. Why do all CMs stand 50 feet away from their subjects, and include 5 feet of ground in front of the pics? Goofy also kept running off in the midst of this. I was tired and puzzled by all these directions being shouted out at me, so I pretty much just stood there in confusion. Finally Jen asked what was going on. Goofy shrugged. Finally we were like, “alright, thanks,” calling an end to these shenanigans, and this crazy photoshoot concluded. Throughout the week, Farmer Goofy became our new BFF and this photoshoot was a taste of crazy photoshoots to come. :joker:

More pics (yes, they’re all here, to document this craziness for posterity):

Our Tony’s pager still hadn’t gone off, so we spent a lot of time in the back room reading and taking pictures with all the different displays. We then took pics with the cardboard cutouts in the attached room, as well. While we were in there, we were pleased to see Farmer Goofy burst into the room, wave to us, and then disappear through the curtains in there. We were happy to see that his antics were still around in full force.

After about 25 minutes, we had exhausted all photo opportunities in all of these rooms, so we spent probably around 10-15 more minutes in the gift shop. We found some Jonas pins that we were pleased about, but there wasn’t anything else entertaining enough, so we went over to the Tony’s waiting room and sat down.

We waited and waited, watching people stream in and out of the dining room, which, of course, didn’t look very full at all. Finally, an hour after we had arrived, we were tired, my eye felt like it was about to explode, and we decided that we couldn’t wait anymore. We went back over to the desk and handed in our pager, and a CM asked us our name. We told her that we hadn’t been called and we just wanted to leave. She asked us why, and we said we had waited an hour and had no desire to wait any longer (and we didn’t say this, but especially not for a restaurant we haven’t heard very good things about!) The CMs at the desk looked slightly panicked for a small second, before they became offended. They told us our ADR was for 8:00 and that there was no guarantee we would get in earlier. We were like, “yes, we know. We’re no longer trying. We just want to leave.” So then we did!

We took the monorail to the Poly, because we wanted to check on the Poly restaurants. The second floor was completely packed, though, so we just walked back to our room. We decided that we were too sleepy and lazy to leave our room, so in-room dining was the only acceptable option. We called and were hoping we could get ‘Ohana noodles or salad, but the chef said I couldn’t have them because they’d be passing through too many hands and he couldn’t confirm they’d be nut free. Upsetting! However, he did say he could make me pasta with lots of vegetables, so that was an acceptable alternative. Jen and Liz ordered a chicken item they’ve gotten before from Kona.

While we were lounging about, we unsuspectingly settled in to check out our Twitter responses, and what we found there shocked and amazed us beyond belief. I was by the sinks at the time and suddenly heard Liz scream in absolute delight. The reason for all of this madness? Why Kimmy Gibbler, of course! We had tweeted our Dumbo photo reenactment at Kimmy Gibbler herself (or Andrea Barber, one of the finest actors of our generation), and we were thrilled because she replied! :faint: :woohoo: :worship: The immortal words penned by Kimmy Gibbler? “LMAO! Love your tiaras, too. ; )” What excitement! We loved it. :lovestruc

We also loved our Poly provided dinners, which arrived within about 20-30 minutes.

After we ate, we decided to walk over to Captain Cook’s to find some desserts, since we still had all our snack credits available. We walked over to the main building in the ugliest ensembles we could manage to put together, and Liz and Jen shared a cupcake, while I got a pack of Divvies cookies, which I actually never ate.

We watched some Soapnet (eww! :crazy2:) for a while and then had a beautiful, fairly early night (in which we tossed and turned restlessly for hours!)

Coming up next: :umbrella:

:rotfl: Of course! We actually do sing "Tuppence" daily, so chances are we did actually do some Mary Poppins reenacting at some point.

What did you do with Liz? Maybe she snuck back to WDW! :lmao:

I wish I had escaped back into WDW, Dax! (This is Liz by the way.) :yay:

Unfortunately, I've been hidden away in a library and was unaware that I was to be writing this TR.

Not that I'd be much help with remembering what we were up to! In addition to no sense of direction, I have a terrible memory! Unless it's a tune that I can sing in my crazy-high pitched morning voice.

But Jen and Laura are doing a great job with the TR without me. Especially as my Dis posts are usually rejected by Old Uncle Orville for excessive emoticon antics. :rolleyes1

Though I am looking horrid in the photos. Especially those examples of bizarre photography by the cowboy Goofy photopassmen! :confused3 I was so confused the entire time!

But "Attack of the Leonards" looks like a great program! Hope to see it on a Disney Channel lineup very soon. Hopefully ridding it of JONAS for good.

I think you look brill! Particularly in the following pics: the one of us on that bicycle painting where your eyes look demonic and the Steamboat one, which is my absolute fav!

Fabulous update, those Goofy pics are hilarious I love them :)

I have never noticed those cardboard cut outs for pics before, we so have to go check those out next year. Looks like you had a great first day, got lots done and took loads of cool pics. I esp love the ones with the three of you in front of the castle with your tiaras :)

Can't wait to read more.

Thanks! Those cardboard cut outs are fun - and that area is a great place to cool off or get away from the crowds (there never seems to be anyone in there) - so it's definitely worth checking out!
