I'm going on vacation to US with my family (which consists of myself, hubby and 15 yr old son) and with my sister and her two kids (ages 12 and 10). ON the website most places say they charge an 18% gratuity for parties of six or more, which is fine, but I'm wondering if they will break the bill up for us, my sister and her kids and then my family??? If not, that is going to be a mess trying to figure out what she will owe us everytime we eat out! Also, on some of the menus they say kids menu's are for kids 9 and under, there is NO way my 12 year old neice will eat most things on the adult menu, and she is doesn't eat much, please say that we will be able to order something off the kids menu for her???

We've had big groups dining at Universal and haven't had a problem breaking up the bill. Just notify the server what they're taking your order that you'll need seperate checks.

As for the children's menu, I wouldn't expect any problems in asking for one.

I'm like Patster...I can't imagine they would give you a hard time if you decide to order something off the kid's menu. Also...if you have an AP or AAA card, show that to them before you order...so there's no problems or confusion when the bill comes.

We've had as many as 18ppl with us (this trip we will have 12), and there has never been a problem with splitting checks. It's true they add the grat., but as a server it's fine with me. Large groups can be scary as sometimes they don't tip very well. Try to sit next to the people on your check so the server will be able to split it easily. It's hard when a group has the kids at one end and the adults at another.:)

teresared, glad to hear you've never had problems with them splitting up the bill. And I can so understand the automatic gratuity, I usually tip 20 to 25% for good service, so 18% is fine. It's a shame that some people don't tip what they should.

just like the other homies have commented, you won't have any difficulty splitting it up to two bills.

a few years back, we CSW ers had a meet up at HRC a couple of hours before the employees had to go on set to get ready for HHN.

we had over 25 people there.
and, we all have separate checks.

they did the checks with a smile!

We always have at least 7 people with us when we eat at citywalk. I pull out the AAA card get a discount, and split the ticket. In some cases they apply the AAA discount to both tickets, even though I think they aren't suppose to. But hey I'm not complaining about it
