We'll have 3 rooms checking in with a total of 8 people. We'd like to link the ressies so we'll be close in the hotel and at some meals we will want to dine together. Does that make us a Grand Gathering? I don't really see much advantage in being a GG for this group.

Can we just make ressies for 8? Or maybe better yet 2 groups of 4 that would like to sit together? We're going during free dining.

WWYD?

I don't think there is any reason not to be a gg?
You don't need to book through gg for dining ressies for a party of 8. From what I've seen 8 is easier to book than 4 actually.

Thanks for your reply. :)

I did a little more research. I was concerned after I had read somewhere that Grand Gathering dining on the DP used 2 TS credits...but after searching on some past threads I found that it is only the "GG Experiences" dining that take 2 TS credits...except maybe for the morning one at Tony's in MK, which takes 1 credit.

We traveled to DW in 2007 at the same time as friends. We did not link our reservations, but we did spend time together in the parks and made some ressies for parties of 9. I cannot remember if GG was an option back then :confused3, but everything went as smoothly for us as when it is just the 2 of us.

You don't have to be a GG to make your ADRs but if you want your rooms near each other, I woud call and get a number. Then everyone can add the number to their reservations. You have a better chance of being close to each other as a GG

Does not have to be a GG. I made ressies for our party of 9 through the regular dining number.

We traveled in a group of eight the past 2 years. We were not a grand gathering either time. I do recommend calling the first day possible for any specific ADR's that you want though. We had a really difficult time getting into O'hana's and Coral Reef

You do not have to register as a GG to book ADR's. I was told they can book parties up to 12 without being a GG. The only advantage is they will put all your rooms "together", same floor, near each other but does not promise adjoining. I also found that the GG number does not place you on hold as long. Hope this helps.
